How Delhi’s rich & entitled flout laws to grab public spaces, even right under the nose of CM @ArvindKejriwal & Lt Gov.
Today I was stopped from walking in my own neighbourhood by the pvt security guards employed by an Ex MP MM Agrawal.
They shut the iron gate on my face+

+that has been put ILLEGALLY to blockade off the street where Mr Agrawal’s house is. When I insisted on walking on that street, public space, the guards at the illegal gate told me to talk to another guard named Guddu, who came out of Mr Agrawal’s house. “Aap yahan allowed nahi”+

I asked “By whose orders?” He kept repeating “allowed nahi hai”, “aana mana hai” “jaao yahaan se” & other random inanities. I repeated my question. He kept shooing me away rudely. I took the photo of the nameplate to be able to file a police complaint.
Another man came out.+

Started misbehaving as if the road is their public property. He wore a red shirt. At this point I called the husband & told him to come. In the meantime, Guddu shouted to the guards at the illegal gate to shut it. “Ab nikal kar dikhao”.
I stayed put.
Red starts shouting how +

His sahab has put the gate & guards for security (ILLEGALLY) to keep people like me away.
@praveenswami reaches & starts talking to the guards & Red. Guards are scared by now because they know it’s a big deal now when we mention High Court orders.
Red is brazenly misbehaving. +

“Dekh liya sab High Court- Wai Court”. He’s joined by another man from Mr Agrawal’s house wearing white shirt. He asks @praveenswami our address & has the gall to tell us, “aap to us taraf rahte hain, yahan kya matlab walk ka...Qudsia Bagh jaiye”.
White is likely a staff member+

And acts bossy. Imagine what he would do to people who are not like us.
We leave the spot and immediately the gate is shut, blocking access to a public road.

Despite telling them what they were doing was illegal and that we are gonna file a complaint against illegal gate.+

We have now filed a complaint with the Civil Lines police station and hope @DcpNorthDelhi and @DelhiPolice shall teach the law of the land to Mr Agrawal and the Red, White, Guddu, and other guards.

This illegal encroachment of public spaces is unacceptable.

The #illegal gate is now bolted. Same guards from yesterday on duty.

Their guards told me y’day that “sahab” put this gate up.
