Alright #emailgeeks I took the plunge in the name of science and installed iOS 15 Developer Beta. I put together a thread of a few tidbits I found interesting . Let me know if anyone wants me to test other things. 🧵 ⬇️
First time you open the mail app you are given this pop up. Learn more links to the second image. (Screenshot from iPad)
The private relay settings (on by default if you have a paid iCloud account) are located under iCloud settings.
Inside of Private Relay, you have the option to switch it off, it comes with a scary popup when you try to switch it off.
IP Address settings are also listed here, unclear if this effects IP Address in Mail or just on Safari.
When you are browsing a website and it asks for your email (either via a pop up or checkout) you are given the option to “hide my email” in the keyboard shortcut bar.
When you tap “Hide My Email” a screen pops up that autogenerates a new email address and assigns it to the domain. (Screenshot wouldn’t work on this one)
After it’s assigned that email will also be available on the auto fill keyboard bar when you return to that site.
Apple immediately triggers an email to confirm your new assigned email address.
Turning off mail protection is in settings -> mail -> privacy protection. If you turn it off, you get the option to block remote images. Interestingly the option to block remote content is only available after you switch off “project mail activity”
Set your filters appropriately, looks like all emails contain (@)iCloud.com and the number 0. Most contain either a period or an underscore.
