(3/9) /@dennisjimaau
‘Show it, dont tell it’: Når forfatterne skriver noget er sådan og sådan, men mangler at illustrere og eksemplificere, så det bliver tydeligt og levende for læseren. (4/9) /@dennisjimaau
(5/9) /@dennisjimaau
WHY? THIS? NOW?’: Læseren skal altid forstå HVORFOR de læser, hvorfor det er DET HER de læser, og hvorfor det er det her de læser NU – altså på det her tidspunkt i den samlede tekst. (6/9) /@dennisjimaau
(7/9) /@dennisjimaau
‘Let foden lidt fra speederen her ’ – For mange uforklarede fagtermer på for lidt plads. (8/9) /@dennisjimaau
(9/9) /@dennisjimaau

Time for a short break. And since I'm apparently the only one working on Level5 tonight (slackers), I can do a private tour of the lab. So welcome to Lab 5 North! Image
The lab belongs to Medical Biotechnology - the research area I formerly was affiliated with. Although I am now with Sustainable Bioresource Technology, 5N is still my playground. Because this is where all my toys are!
First, I'll introduce the "small" piece of equipment, that is really the core of most of my activities: The @thermofisher Q Exactive HF mass spec. With a nanoLC in front, it is perfect for doing proteomics work! Image

A bit of radio silence from my side during the past few days. As project hand-in approaches, it's apparently not only the students who are overworked. Today, I had the pleasure of six hours back-to-back supervisor meetings with my 4th semester groups.
All three meetings were planned for an hour duration, but basically all doubled. Even missed a group meeting. Even though we do not get sufficient hours, I still put great effort and (probably too many) resources into providing adequate and quality supervision for my groups.
But with hand-in approaching, so are exams. So after a quick pit-stop at home for making and eating dinner followed by tugging in my heiress, I'm back at the office to finish the Mass Spectrometry exam set. Image

While taking care of a sick daughter yesterday, I managed to sneek in a meeting (thank you tablet and @RamasjangDR). The meeting was with the @HelixLab_DK Supervisor Network about current projects. Image
For those who do not know, @HelixLab_DK is an initiative by the Kalundborg Biotech industry to promote academic-industrial collaboration through MSc fellowships, allowing students to work on-site at the company, while providing lab facilities and housing free of charge.
Again this year, I have the pleasure of continuing my collaboration with @uni_bio through this platform. This is our second joint MSc and we have another lined up for next study year.

Back at the office. Today is dedicated to one of the great joys of my work: Interacting with students and try my best to help shape the minds of the next generation in science. At the moment, I am supervising four groups on the fourth semester of Biotechnology BSc.
All the groups work on fermentering seaweed using lactic acid bacteria. Seaweeds are super interesting for food applications, but their recalcitrant carbohydrate matrix makes them notoriously hard to work with. So we are trying to get the LAB to help us...
As we are rapidly approaching hand-in of their reports, reading drafts and providing feedback is taking all my time at the moment. Right now, it's time for Ulva. Afterwards, Ascophyllum and Saccharina will follow. Image

AT FORLADE AKADEMIA 🧵

#altac ...
