As others have said, the Cult of the Wings Over #Indyref mouth foamers, have looked shaky of late, turning in and on themselves. But. Again, as we've said, and others are now saying, the cult MUST be maintained, so just as religious cults do, political cults must make diverging

cult members extremely uncomfortable. With threats, and of course with their isolationist block lists. Scientology does this, jehovahs witnesses do this, as do other cultish religions. The cult must be pure. The power of the cult must be built, not weakened... And whatever

beliefs the cult has set out cannot be questioned (or indeed, proved wrong) regardless of evidence.

One of the cult of indyref bloggers, Jeggit, has had to climb down after writing about the now well known links between the far right, Trumpism and the Trumpist Republican Party,

and the anti-trans bloc. He has now opted for a "there are good people on both sides" cop out after his cult pals cut his grift and indeed some went on to threaten him (Dead Dug Woman being one). He is at present sitting on the barbed wire fence around the cult, and his

re-admittance into it will depend on his ability to chant his daily hate towards the rest of the pro independence movement, and in particular Sturgeon and the SNP

Some of these cult members and anti-trans people are of course, just lay hate cult members. But others are driving

the transphobic, homophobic and anti LGBTIQ +++ wedge (that @patrickharvie wrote about in @ScotNational).

Why is this wedge being driven?

Well, why was racism "legitimised" by Farage, and the Tories (and then further by the capitulation of Labour) during Brexit?

Wedge politics

work by scapegoating. By creating seeming links between a minority or minority issue, and difficulties larger sections of the population are having (immigration & employment/trans rights/inequalities women suffer in a sexist and misogynistic society)and exploit them to: 1 divert

2 divide 3 disintegrate.

1 Divert. 51% of our population, women, suffer huge inequalities in our workplaces, in gaining employment, in retaining employment and in pensions and other rights. Instead of mass campaigns of support for those issues, divert some loud voices to

shouting about trans people (less than 0.5% of our population), using toilets. And repeat. And add worries about rape (the majority of rapes are carried out in this country by men who are known to the victims).

And repeat. And enrage.

2 Divide. Ensure this scapegoating builds within a movement that is a threat to the powerful. Ensure another side within that movement is triggered by outrageous claims.

3 Disintegrate. Drive the wedge further in to the heart of movements and societies.

Complain that that the media is not representing your "legitimate" concerns. Ensure the media is forced to take a "neutral" stance. Legitimise your once shunned stance. Shatter the targetted movements.

What can we do?

Continue to call it out.
Refuse to legitimise their playing

field- they've built it-but that does not mean we have to come.

Reiterate our standing with minorities, and our determination to level out inequities. Push for anti poverty, feminist, equitable solutions.

And really do not worry about being castigated by these cults.
