MAJOR VIVEK GUPTA & men led by him were able to close in with the enemy inspite of heavy artillary and automatic fire.
As soon as they emerged in open they came under multidirectional intense fire. 3 personal of the leading section were hit and the attack was temporarily stalled.

SUBEDAR BHANWAR LAL BHAKAR

was successful in destroying the first enemy bunker. After a while in the fierce firefight Bhanwar Lal received bullets in his forehead and immortalized himself.
He was later decorated with VIR CHAKRA.

In the overnight battle at the TOLOLING top,

Major Vivek Gupta was commissioned June 13, in 1992 and laid down his life, seven years later on June 13, 1999.

In last letter that MAJOR VIVEK GUPTA penned to his family on 8th June, he said
“You should feel proud of me . . .I am contributing something for the nation in this uniform I have worn . . being a company commander at this time is the greatest experience one can have.”
