It seemed that anyone could buy or sell anything with Bitcoin and never be tracked, let alone busted

“It’s totally anonymous,” was how one commenter put it in Bitcoin's forums in June 2013
sciencemag.org/news/2016/03/w…
“The FBI does not have a prayer of a chance of finding out who is who"

Bitcoin’s anonymity is also a powerful tool for financing crime : The virtual money can keep shady transactions secret

But things have evolved since then
The Federal Bureau of Investigation FBI and other law enforcement agencies have been active :

- in February 2015 Ross Ulbricht, the 31-year-old American who created Silk Road, a Bitcoin market facilitating the sale of $1 billion in illegal drugs, was sentenced to life in prison
- in March 2015 the assets of 28-year-old Czech national Tomáš Jiříkovský were seized; he’s suspected of laundering $40 million in stolen Bitcoins
- in September 2015 33-year-old American Trendon Shavers pleaded guilty to running a $150 million Ponzi scheme—the first Bitcoin securities fraud case
- also in September 2015 30-year-old Frenchman Mark Karpelès was arrested and charged with fraud and embezzlement of $390 million from the now shuttered Bitcoin currency exchange Mt. Gox

WHAT IS THE VALUE OF AN AUTOMOBILE COMPANY ?

On the left-hand side of these two charts we see two mature automobile companies with essentially no growth

- their Automotive Revenues are around $220~250 billion

- their Full Enterprise Values FEV are around $580~600 billion
This gives an FEV / Automotive Revenues Multiple of about 2.5x

This "mature company" Revenue Multiple will tend to be higher for higher Operating Profit Margins and vice versa

- and it can be a helpful to provide a "first estimate" of other auto companies' FEV at maturity
So if you can project the future Revenues of an auto company out to the point where it can be expected to have no more growth, then you can use it to give you a first estimate of that company's future value

- which you can then discount back to the present

Volkswagen’s high-tech Project Trinity EV is the first car the firm has "developed from the inside out", with an emphasis on interior design, because of its focus on offering autonomous driving systems, according to company bosses
autocar.co.uk/car-news/elect…

It will be one of the first models built on the Volkswagen Group’s planned new SSP architecture and using a next-generation software system
Trinity will be launched initially with Level 3 advanced driver assistance systems (allowing it to drive itself with a driver able to intervene), with a plan to upgrade that to Level 4 (fully self-driving, with no human intervention required) by around 2030
