These films are part of a growing PR/fanboy/contractor campaign to normalize the currently illegal Russian PMC business. The films typically have a grim Russian style approach to fighting even though they don't officially exist.

"The Tourist" is a fiction film about Russian contractors sent to Central Africa but find themselves forced to fight. There is an earlier film about jailed Russian political operative Maxim Shugalev as well. You can watch the entire Tourist film here
I say "PR" but I should be careful, Russian filmmakers know how to take "grim" to a whole nuther level. Here are some amazing examples of Russian films on war.
This expertise in cinema would be expected from the nation who gave us "Battleship Potemkin" in 1925. The same year America made the WW1 epic "The Big Parade" You would think great films about how horrible war is would move the needle towards peace.
