A bunch of liberal imperialist academics signed an open letter supporting right-wing US-funded coup-plotters in Nicaragua, smearing its elected Sandinista government.

Among the signatories are extremists who called for a US military invasion of Nicaragua

Many of the academics who signed the new pro-coup letter attacking Nicaragua also signed this absurd lie-filled letter on Ecuador, including Western govt-funded Manuela Picq, wife of the fake "left" candidate Yaku Pérez who helped elect a right-wing banker

In the 1980s, the US State Dep't was exposed for spreading fake news not only abroad, but also against its own population - blatantly violating domestic laws - in an information war against Nicaragua's socialist gov't

If you think it's not doing the same today, you're very naive
In addition to funding and training Nicaragua's Contra death squads in the 1980s, the CIA:
-named their groups
-wrote their press releases
-"coached Contra leaders how to lie to reporters effectively"
-staged fake events for cameras

The latest poll from Nicaragua's top firm shows the leftist Sandinista Front remains by far the most popular force, while support for the right-wing opposition is tiny

69% approve of President Daniel Ortega's gov't

73% say it gives them hope

76% feel the country has progressed
61% of Nicaraguans say the country is better with a leftist Sandinista government.

Just 4% strongly sympathize with the right-wing opposition.

The US govt-backed opposition groups, which have millions of dollars in foreign funding, can't even get 1% support from the population.
63% of Nicaraguans say they and their families will have better lives and jobs with a leftist Sandinista government

Only 14% think their lives would be better living under rule by the US-backed right-wing opposition (those are the rich elites, who Washington wants back in power)

The situation in El Salvador is interesting. President Nayib Bukele at first followed US orders, backing Venezuelan puppet Guaidó and attacking his neighbor Nicaragua

But gradually Bukele has distanced himself from the US and is instead allying with China

The US government is now even threatening sanctions on its ally El Salvador. Why? Because its former puppet Bukele has become increasingly independent and is no longer obediently following orders like before, and he just signed an agreement with China

El Salvador's leftist former FMLN gov't broke ties with US colony Taiwan, recognizing China. During his presidential campaign, Bukele criticized China, saying he would reexamine ties.

But in the past two years he has done a 180, growing closer to China
