5 WAYS TO SELL ANYONE ANYTHING (non-slimy, easy to follow, even for introverts)

My main passion and skill is writing. Writing sales messages which have generated millions upon millions in sales.

However, there are easy ways to sell anyone on anything

5 ways

#1. ANCHOR

Price anchoring might be one of the most tips skills out there

Every decision you make is on 'present' information.

So if you see a coat is "$100" but normally "$105", you'd think "I dunno, I'll think about buying it"

...

but
3/

What if you knew the coat was normally "$1,000" selling for $100? Suddenly, you're more motivated even if the $1,000 is an arbitrary made up number (Groupon's entire business model)

When I negotiate with a homeowner on their house, I'll use anchoring the entire time

Example
4/
A house we bought last year for $78k, cleaned it out for 2k and sold a month later for $150.5k, I told the homeowner

"Look, some of the other houses in the area go for as low as $140k, if I have to put $75k into this house, I'd have to offer you $35k ... what do you think?
5/
"Yeah, that's pretty low, so I think I could get you higher up to $70k...78k the highest I can go."

The 35k is stuck in their head, so 78k sounds like a better deal. If I said, "fixed up this house is worth $215k, but I'll offer you 78k"... that's a hard no
6/
#2. URGENCY

There's a lot of sleazy urgency used out there. Urgency doesn't need to be fake.

There's plenty of urgency methods
- Time urgency (on a sale)
- Limited supply urgency (inventory going)

Those urgency pieces can be manipulated, I've found a better urgency
7/
"Internal urgency"

This comes from knowing your prospect. You play to their "personal convictions"

E.g.

If I was selling a car wash service to a husband, I wouldn't use a "this coupon expires tomorrow", I'd instead say
8/
"You said your kids & wife matter to you. Sounds like you're someone who takes care of them.Riding in a messy, dirty, cluttered car only brings bad moods & arguments. What if time out with your family started off on the right foot with a new car smell and a family proud of you
9/
That's a cheesy example, but look at someone's situation and simply push them to the type of person you see they are

My wife sets her mind to something & her internal urgency is off... doesn't matter if we don't need a new sofa by tom,her internals says she wants a nice home
10/
#3. FUTURE PACE

May be the most powerful. If you can paint a picture of someone's future with words, expressions and imagery, you will win.

Never talk about 'your future', talk about the other person's 'future.'
11/
If you're going into a meeting for a raise, saying "I deserve a raise because 'xyz' is a bad approach. instead, going in saying "I'm ready to take XYZ off your plate & knock it out of the park. You'll have less time worrying abt these tasks, I'll even handle the transition"
12/
We are all selfish. Everything is about 'me, me, me'. If you're selling a tenant on leasing, you don't talk about how great you are as a landlord. Instead, you discuss how the grocery is 2 min away. "You'll be walking your dogs to the park right in town..."

Future pace.
13/
#4. MAKE IT EASY FOR THEM TO SAY YES

The easier you can make them say 'yes', the easier the sale. When we buy a house, folks are willing to take a discount because
- You just sign a piece of paper, show up to the close and collect a check. Leave all junk in house you want
14/
Compare that to selling with a realtor
- Leave house for open house
- Do repairs
- House must be cleaned before selling
- Stage the house, keep dogs off carpet

No one likes hassles
15/
How can you take whatever you're trying to get... trying to get your kid to clean their room. "Rather than take 1 hr to clean your room, how about every morning, before you come downstairs, you put just 5 things away until done. Will take you less than 3 min."
16/
#5. SHOW DON'T TELL

Saying words like "this is the greatest thing ever" does not convince folks. You need to 'show' results.

Easy example is weight loss ads.

An easy way to follow this rule is to "think of stories or proof"
17/
If you'll notice, this entire time, I've used examples for all the persuasion tactics. I used a story, made up examples, actual numbers and more.

Doing that makes it easier to digest and more believable than if I just said "Anchoring - use # near where you want.'
18/
BONUS TIP - Show how X fits for "them" specifically

Back to weight loss, we've all heard ads about 'losing weight by this magic pill'

However, we all have inner monologues that say "yes, that works for them but NOT me."
19/
A way to conquer this objection is to angle every benefit and feature towards that person's situation.

Many dads follow all these single, young, no kids entrepreneurs 'hustling' day and night. They think "I don't have that time, so starting a side income doesn't make sense"
20/
I try and add examples starting at the hardest level, the dad who has multiple kids, in a tough job, and little cash. Sure, there are other excuses (like an illness) but if you can position something for that person, it's better.
21/
You don't sell a busy mom on the endless walking trails in a neighborhood. She likely doesn't have time.

Instead, you focus on how much storage there is, how the flow of a house makes it easier to keep track of the kids... etc.

HOW TO COME UP WITH A BIG IDEA FOR PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING

There's a scene in "In the Heights" (saw last night) where a girl is struggling to come up with an idea for a clothing design

"I've sat and thought and can't find any inspiration"

Here's how to find inspiration
👇
2/
She ended up walking down the street & saw a friend graffiti-ing a wall. But he used different clothes to wipe the paint and such

She was then struck with a new design idea to use a similar pattern on upscale clothes and it was a hit

There's two thoughts here for ideas...
3/
#1. If you sit & think, you'll come up with something

#2. OR --> You expose your brain to different patterns/thoughts and smash them together with baseline idea

As someone who must come up with big ideas regularly for marketing, #2 ALWAYS WINS

WHAT I'VE LEARNED ABOUT MARRIAGE AFTER 10 YEARS

My wife & I married right after college. That's us running through DT Charlotte

Our wedding and reception were so epic, folks still bring it up to this day

We got a chocolate fountain, I didn't get to even try it...

👇 Image

Every marriage is different, but here are things I've learned (from a guy's point of view)

In 10 years, we've had 3 kids (about to have a 4th), a miscarriage, lived in 3 states, and I quit my stable job to go out on my own.

These things may not apply to everyone fyi

1 - Never make an excuse, just admit you're wrong.

Today, my shower ran 15 min long which left Sam only 30 min to get ready for church. She's ticked

I was up w/ kids at 6:30a, so I could argue I allowed her to sleep in so I deserved it

Prepare for a bad day if you do that
