The claim that racism may be baked into ostensibly neutral institutions is reasonable; the dogmatic insistence that the mere existence of disparate outcomes proves the existence of racism has been unavoidable in practice.
So, creating a standard of "proper grooming" normed to white hair types, for instance, that necessarily rules out the kind of hair black people naturally have is an example of the appropriate application of a CRT framework.
Saying that disparities in outcomes on standardized testing means standardized tests are racist is an example of the inappropriate application of the CRT framework.

But on the basis of it, standardized tests are being removed in California and elsewhere.
We need to be able to make judgments about the proper and improper use of that framework -- but it's precisely that effort at deliberation that the intense social and political pressure around these movements rules out

The maxxing out of sexual puritanism under the sign of carceral feminism while embracing kink, poly, and fluidity is just the latest paradox

Men imprisoning and gang raping women to ultra-violent dirges -- but dressed like women -- was just early MTV
So you had implicitly the queer friendly gender bending of Boy George and Dead or Alive and Sigue Sigue Sputnik, but also the maximally toxic masculinity paired with totally unreflective gender bending of the hair bands.
Why were the hair bands the unreflective choice of the same guys who a few years prior would have been part of the "disco sucks" movement? We don't have answers to this.

Really interesting case that after the street and ideological frenzy of 2020 and the ensuing murder spike, conservative black machine identity politics may beat back the woke rossbarkan.substack.com/p/eric-adams-a…

The piece goes on to show how his appeal to identity politics on rent stabilization is a deeply pernicious manipulation in the service of billionaire landlords

The weird irony is that the “whiteness” approach to American history and society, which definitely was once true, became mainstream at precisely the moment when it is provable at a glance that it is no longer true
This, by the way, is why what feels like a weird non-sequitur in NHJ’s 1619 essay, where she takes a shot at the litigants in the Harvard Asian American discrimination lawsuit, is actually at the very center of that project’s concerns.
Students activists at Cornell and Stanford called for tracking of the ancestral American formerly enslaved population at the schools and for set asides specifically targeted for them distinct from black immigrants who tend to take up a large share of diversity admits

When I say that wokeness moves from the pursuit of justice to the redistribution of injustice, one of the things I mean is that where it has succeeded best is in making it as tense and uncomfortable to be a white man in an office as it once was to be a minority or woman
It has managed to do this without making anyone else more comfortable. But by leveling the discomfort level between groups it has created a kind of equality.
Some truly wonderful white men in this thread

It’s because of the incredibly rapid uptake and institutionalization of ideas that few had heard of just a few years ago that I think widespread adoption of politicized new identities within certain classes is likely
The pace of change is drastically different than anything any of us know. We cannot rely existing precedent to serve as a guide. Stable categories since the childhood his humanity evanesce in 9 months
