every website and all of its functions have gotten more difficult to use over the last 1-5 years and its getting impossible to pretend that this isnt the case
few years ago i downloaded an archive of my tweets. boom. some type of excel file. opened it perfectly. thanks. now i just requested the same archive. its a huge file with everything that ever happened to me here, and it opens as an html that links to an archive that doesnt work
so i have to google, cant open twitter archive. but they changed the function so much over the last few years i cant tell if theres a difference between an archive of my twitter data and an archive of my tweets. so i have to go read random reddit posts to figure it out
when i go back in to the request archive function theres a button to download my archive that downloads a blank pdf (???) from the website. then in some blog posts, it advises me to download source code as an html file at put it in this folder and open it as an XYZ. why
not just abstractly complaining but i think at some point we have to recognize that the internet was unintuitive (90's-some point in 2000s), then intuitive, there was a minute where things worked, but its regressing. every site has just gotten point blank harder to use over time.
the level of functionality i routinely get from some of the biggest wesites and entities online is about on par with what i would have expected from a poorly constructed fan website like fifteen years ago. its actually worse than that.

moving today (and in general, been busy, thank u for sticking with owen broadcasting corporation during this time). as i pack and unpack books might swiftly post some that i see, without explanation, that people may want to check out depending on ur interests or general situation
i think that just for one second we can put our spiritual differences aside and admit that the christian scientists really killed it on their logo
with the slogan. really good. if you dont know anything about this and see it, you want to be a part of this
kind of proto new age “you only get sick because of your mind and thoughts so dont go to the doctor ever”, its objectively not very christian or scientific, ironically. started by a woman named mary baker eddy who i think claimed to be psychic or something. not sure. its weird.
just cut to the chase + ask someone what their null hypothesis is. what would they accept, in theory. any story about individuals is just an anecdote. any generalization is “just” a generalization so it cant be applied to individuals. make them admit theres nothing theyd accept.
so many discussions can be accelerated 1000% by just taking this route. its the hidden snake eating its tail of modern social programming. cant make claims based on individual instances. also cant make claims based on generalizations. its a double bind, no assessment is possible.
whenever i happen to post about a vice (rare, now, i think, used to do it more), i get people obviously coping in replies. “thats just ur experience”. sometimes out of curiosity ill play it out with them. okay, heres some data. “thats a generalization, not everyone is like that”.
a friends gf likes reality tv, have watched a little with them for ethnographic purposes. i read a media analysis book long ago that correctly observed (at the time, this was in the 2000s) that on the first iteration of reality shows, like 'the real world', for example [...]
people would get in crazy fights as you expect and do all kind of things, but would never say to someone they were fighting with "youre just doing this for the cameras", or "youre just saying that because we're on TV". they would never puncture that bubble of reality.
i have noticed now that this is not the case, and that it changed slowly over time. now, people will say something like that, and you may even see the producers intervene, there is a meta-level of awareness wherein the documentation is not something that must be kept in obscurity
