Tonight's #BizDevChat was so amazing. We need to make sure the points are documented. Let me try to summarize the discussion and please add more details based on your thoughts or experience.
Topic is ignoring the noise, focusing and executing.
First step is to define what success means to you - not just material but holistic. What keeps you ticking and will continue to make you your best self.
Can this be broken down into stages?
E.g. going to the beach regularly
How do you define noise?
Internally - anxiety, your own ambition and criticism. Emotions that make you question your actions, existence and beliefs.
Externally - society, family, friends, peers - their expectations of you and what you "should" be doing.
Execution - what steps can you take to keep on pushing no matter what?
Some suggestions included:
Saying no more often - prioritising
Taking personal time to recoup
Committing time to practicing your creative nature
Therapy - it's critical to a high productive lifestyle
Overall what can we do to align ourselves to true success?
Appreciating the little things - favourite foods or experience
Exercise
Small wins - logging the achievements
Helping others
Creating a positive impact
Takes cash to care:
What if we get sick?
Have an emergency?
Have a friend or family member in need?
We need a buffer or some monetary success to allow us to be comfortable and meet our quality of life requirements. This should be part of the plan.
Discipline:
We must dedicate time to our goals on a constant basis.
A launched rocket has a general trajectory but adjustments are always necessary. Be specific but be flexible enough to adapt to changing conditions.
Create a support group:
Close friends
Close family
Therapists
People who you can rely on, who are helpful and not manipulating you or extorting you. It takes time and not everyone is worth your energy or can help you maintain your energy.
Understanding cycles in life:
You may be grinding now but that's unsustainable. Have periods where you execute no matter what and other times to refresh and recharge.
Balance is key to success
(And curry apparently - iykyk)
Finally I'll add passion:
Passion and faith will help you achieve the impossible but it's hard to maintain, protect it at all costs. However if it's detrimental to your own well being then dash it weh.
You are special, you are enough, you are important.

Here's a thread of #GrantFunding opportunities available to existing businesses in the #Caribbean. I'll start off with Caribbean wide opportunities and then list the Jamaican specific ones. Please add other opportunities that you know of and RT/share with entrepreneurs.
This is actually global, @USAID has a Development Innovation Ventures program. Open to for profits & non-profits. This grant covers salaries, has multiple stages of funding- US$200K for POC to US$5M for scaling. read more here: usaid.gov/div/aps
I see comments all the time about large companies, customer service (or lack of) and profits that these companies are generating. These comments are valid but I want to share a few more factors to consider.
First off when you run a large business that is pervasive, this is no longer just a business but a platform. Facebook is not a social media company but a Telecom. Financial institutions like NCB are utility companies. They are more than just the services they provide.
Because they are now platform and utilities - they have to operate differently. It's no longer easy to innovate or optimise or even understand internal and external experiences. Experience and needs are fluid but these organisations need structure to continue scaling.
