Can anyone imagine a US corporate journalist screaming at Biden: "Why do you fear Assange so much?"

Always easy to condemn the acts of the governments your country tells you to see as Enemy. Much harder - and way more meaningful - to challenge your own government's repression.
My government's imprisonment of dissidents, journalists and whistleblowers is better than that enemy government's imprisonment of dissidents, journalists and whistleblowers.

Just like the assassinations and poisonings of my country's intelligence agencies are better than theirs.
If a news organization hiring the former Director of the CIA to shape the news and constantly heap praise on the power, strength and wisdom of the Noble Leader isn't State TV, what is?

It's astonishing on days like this to see how fully trained US corporate journalists are to get angry at what US Enemies do, without ever having it enter their brain that their own government and its allies do the same.

They have a 6th-grade civics-level understanding of the US
It's also funny how performatively brave they think they're being by strutting before the cameras and condemning the foreign governments which the US Government has directed them to hate, with righteous condemnations they'd never dream of making of their own government.
It takes bravery to stand up to the governments and other institutions that have power over you. That's when it matters.

It takes no bravery to denounce governments that are powerless over you and that your leaders have told you that you should hate. That's just obedience.

I'm a little unclear about this massive CNN/NBC/WPost freakout today about questions regarding FBI infiltration of the groups behind 1/6. DHS has been warning for 2 years at that they pose the greatest threat. Do people doubt that FBI infiltrated them & had informants in them?
The FBI had at least one informant in the group charged with the plot to kidnap Gov. Whitmer. They constantly used informants/infiltrators to steer plots from the first War on Terror. Why are people so doubtful that they had informants in these groups?

detroitnews.com/story/news/loc…
I can't even count how many "terror plots" I reported on as part of the first War on Terror that were designed, driven and even funded by the FBI, but it was a lot. They'd instigate their own plots, then congratulate themselves for stopping them:

Nathan Robinson wrote this less than two years ago.

The problem for Nathan and those like him is they built their whole self-image based on being radical leftists, totally different from their MSNBC-watching parents and the Democratic Party. Now they struggle to find any differences so this is all they have. Nobody cares.

If you see or hear something from large corporate media outlets today that you disagree with or dislike, please keep in mind that saying so can stoke "harassment" against the journalists who did it, and it's therefore best if you just refrain from criticizing them at all.
The @CBC -- one of the most influential news outlets in Canada -- is disabling comments on its Facebook page because the mental health of its journalists is "fragile and in need of attention" and comments "compound the stress and anxiety of journalists."

cbc.ca/news/world/edi…
CBC is disabling comments for 4 weeks as a test because of "the vitriol and harassment" their journalists face, citing "the increased abuse of journalists on social media, especially women and journalists of colour, and the threat such attacks pose to free speech and democracy."

Front-page reporter for the world's most powerful newspaper, and of her very best male allies, literally using their massive platform to literally generate harassment campaigns against me again. This is what writing on the internet as an openly gay journalist constantly provokes.
Thanks again to Taylor and her gallant defender and ally Ed. My mentions are literally filled with all kinds of harassment, forcing me to literally consider having to lock my account.
You try to just do your job as an independent journalist, and you literally have employees of the largest and most powerful media corporations in the world using their large platforms and constellation of Good Allies to literally make your job impossible with endless harassment.

The newest addition to Substack is Edward Joseph @Snowden:
Imagine you're a CIA/NSA agent or an Obama WH official in 2013. You hate Snowden so much you try to bring down the plane of the President of Bolivia to get him. You indict him on multiple felony charges and threaten and bribe every country to get your hands on him....
You feed trash to media servants like @juliaioffe about how his life is destined to be broken and miserable, how he'll die alone and drunk and empty in a dirty Moscow stairway, all to make a negative example out of him, to scare others.

BEFORE TRUMP: refusing to cooperate with the FBI was such a fixed and foundational principle for journalists that reporters were expected to go prison rather than comply with a subpoena to turn over their source, and often did that:

rcfp.org/jailed-fined-j…
DURING TRUMP: A blogger chased the FBI & begged them to let her *voluntarily* rat out her own source to the FBI on the ground he was a "smoking gun" for Russiagate - even as they laughed at her - and journalists cheered her for doing that.

money.cnn.com/2018/07/09/med…
The Trump years destroyed US corporate journalism in so many ways. That they were willing and eager to disseminate deranged conspiracy theories and falsehoods to stop Trump is well known. But that case of cheering that unwell blogger for voluntary FBI source-ratting is stunning.
