Trump was the victim of a blackmail attempt in 2016 to which he paid money to make it go away. Instead of going after the blackmailers, prosecutors used it as a gateway to turn Trump’s and Trump Org’s papers upside down with the goal and until they find something.

But NAVALNY!
According to NY law you need to keep accurate business records even if it has no tax implications. For example, if you pay $140,000 ransom to blackmailers through your attorney, and you file it as legal fees instead of marketing (or the other way around), it’s a misdemeanor.
You are wondering “is such a payment legal fees or marketing?” Exactly! It can be either which is why “business records” it’s not a felony and is rarely prosecuted.

Trump Org’s classification of the payouts to the blackmailers is where the Manhattan DA started his investigation.
It’s crazy enough for a DA to go after the business of a blackmail victim for a rarely-prosecuted, immaterial misdemeanor, but this is just the start. The Dem DA asked the Republican President to release years of personal tax records and years of business records. The attorneys
argued that if the question is how the blackmail payouts were classified, ask only for those records. So the Dem SA said in court that media reports suggest the Trump Org is corrupt so he needs to expand his investigation.

0 evidence; just reports.

READ in FULL:
At this point we have

A) A Dem going after a GOP.

B) DA against a POTUS; rarely if ever happened before!

C) Blackmail victim being persecuted

D) for a rarely prosecuted immaterial misdemeanor

E) that’s expanded into a full investigation due to “published media reports.”
@maggieNYT I doubt highly that if Fox, WSJ, Newsmax and OANN were to have “published reports” of how politically corrupt the current Manhattan DA is that it would be reason enough for a (Trump era) US Attorney to criminally investigate the DA (to the cheers of “justice” Journos).
Disheartening about the above is that federal courts up and down the chain approved the continuation of all this despite the politically-motivated and abuse-of-power nature behind it all as shown in the thread.

In Russia, the courts also approved the persecution of Navalny.
Once a politically-motivated prosecutor gets to look for as long as he likes at a combined 18 years of tax records from a multi billion dollar company and a multi billionaire (all while being cheered by media), he will he able to find something somewhere. cc @AriMelber

The rest deaths may have come in large part from the panicked reaction to the virus where lives were turned upside down in name of saving them. Covid-19 was here months earlier than thought. Why weren’t there massive deaths in the weeks before panicked policies were implemented?
.@drsanjaygupta Coronavirus was here 8-10 weeks earlier than the mid-March 2020 moment that deaths started to rise. Why didn’t those early cases spread Covid like crazy due to no masks and no distancing with negative consequences felt within weeks? It took 2.5 months. Why?
.@drsanjaygupta We operated under the thinking that an infected person could spread the virus in a room hours after leaving it and it infect thousands who enter the same room. With this scale of spread and deaths happening within 2 weeks, why didn’t mass deaths start in Dec-Jan?

What’s the practical upside of this commission? Dems and @RepJohnKatko already voted to impeach Trump for it. If it’s not political, both parties should have equal subpoena powers and staff space, and the commission should look at deadly political violence that proceeded 1/6/21.
The claim is that Trump’s doubts of 2020 led to 1/6/21.

Commission should look how Dems normalized the doubting of elections (Bush “stealing” 2000; Ohio/Diebold machines 2004; Russia “hacked” 2016 and HRC telling Biden not to concede), which may have led Trump to do the same.
1/6/21 didn’t happen in a vacuum and it was less violence against humans and institutions than the last 5 years of BLM/ANTIFA.

A legit commission would look at Dems’ election doubting and lib violence, and give GOP equal powers. But this isn’t happening because it’s pilitical.

1/ I am writing here as someone who a) had many roles in political campaigns in NY but gave it up a few years back to expand the work of OJPAC so I know a thing or two and b) as someone who is actively involved in policy as it relates to elected office so I know even more things.
2/ Some of the rhetoric that people are using against @AndrewYang and more so against @ericadamsfornyc as it relates to votes and voters in the Orthodox Jewish community is inflammatory and also false. Yang as being new to the scene has a right to evolve on issues the more info
3/ that he hears and sees. It does’t make him an opportunist or a hack. Having been in elected office a long time, @ericadamsfornyc has had agreements and disagreements as it relates to Orthodox Jews. Agreeing to do the right thing does not mean automatic support; disagreeing

Hey @GOPLeader. @davidmweissman walks around like an unaffiliated white but pulls his “as a Jew card” for politics. I however am visibly Jewish; an ethnicity whose members are being beat up after a week of inflammatory language by @AOC @IlhanMN. At this time, please focus there.
When visibly Jewish people faced dozens of assaults in 2019 and nasty language from politicos in 2020, some members of the tribe were MIA. But the MINUTE they can score political points, they pull the “as a Jew” line.

Well, AS A JEW fight hatred no matter the source, you HACKS!
Most Jews murdered by the Nazis were not identifiably Jewish. Haters hate no matter how affiliated.

But if you move around like a white guy with a lower chance of facing hate assaults, and you are also MIA when visibly Jewish peopele are beaten, don’t “as a Jew” me for politics.
