Collusion, machinations and alleged links with UPA minister: The dark world of ex-IL&FS chairman unmasked! newsroompost.com/business/collu… | I know things were bad under UPA but each time I read an article like this I am reminded just how very horrible it was
“Sources told this reporter how Parthasarathy took instructions from Chidambaram before striking deals, they two apparently talked for hours.
Those in the know say Parthsarathy had an unique way of operating.”
“He allegedly obliged all IAS officers whose children couldn’t get jobs. ILFS would hire them. In return coffers were allegedly opened for him and first refusal on all major projects.”
“Once the BJP-led NDA came to power, his sinister ringtones started making noise. He could no longer call top cops to keep his business partners in jail, he could not run roughshod over investigators who started hounding him every now and then.”
What was a matter of immense crisis was the fact that nearly 60 percent of IL&FS’s borrowings was in non-convertible debentures. These were not backed by any assets or security and subscribed mostly by pension, insurance and provident funds.
“In short, it was the savings of India’s poor and middle class, the government could not allow it to fail.”

“The Indian government, justifiably, is keen to trace those who swindled cash that actually belonged to the masses.”

I received this animated illustration from a friend who lives in Singapore. He is an accountant & has a few maritime clients

Shared the video with my brother, who was a mariner, & asked him to provide his analysis of what happened with the #EverGiven in the #SuezCanal 1/n
Chetan’s comments:

“Many a times transiting the Suez Canal, it is the Master's and all involved wish that the ordeal is swift and safe for the 100km journey.” 2/n
“The clip shown and the author's view is true. Evidently MV Ever Given was racing to catch up with the ship ahead and she is apparently not leading the convoy. In the haste, with her massive LOA, banking effect is pronounced, her SOG was evident to suggest such.” 3/n

Finding Oil Is Really Hard, Making Money Even Harder pubs.spe.org/en/jpt/jpt-art… | “In retrospect it wasn’t obvious, and that was why it took so long,”
......“initiated oil and gas exploration activities in Guyana in 2008,” the story ExxonMobil presented at the recent AAPG SuperBasins 2020 conference covered exploration starts and stops going back to 1928 by the company’s predecessor, Standard Oil Co."
"One slide showed a typewritten report from the 1930s noting the test wells were “salted,” giving the impression of a rich reservoir, even though “there is no evidence of oil.”

Hidden threat: Japan has only 2-week stockpile of LNG asia.nikkei.com/Business/Energ… | Scenarios that were once unimaginable are about to play out. Greater Tokyo with no power! Wow! Just goes to show nuclear is the most secure energy source
“Because LNG is poorly suited for long-term storage, Japan only has a two-week stockpile. Yet, the country depends on the fuel for 40% of its electric power generation needs, and all of the LNG it uses is imported from the Middle East and Southeast Asia.”
“These extraordinary steps underscore just how vital the power station is. Tokyo Bay, which stretches across the prefectures of Chiba, Tokyo and Kanagawa, is Japan's most important LNG power generation hub. JERA operates many of the power plants there, all of which run on LNG.”

It is indeed evil, horrible etc.. But let’s not forget Christians of that area supported the Muslim League during partition. Christians in Kerala continue to support the Muslim League
How four Christian votes made Pakistan possible thefridaytimes.com/how-four-chris…
“At a time when many of the so-called Ulema were categorically opposed to the Pakistan concept, to the Muslim League, and especially to Mr. Jinnah, the leaders of the Christian community were consistently strong supporters of the Quaid-e-Azam’s vision.”

Two Indian refiners win Abu Dhabi’s Onshore Block 1 oglinks.news/adnoc/news/two… | Twist it any way you want but the supposedly Islamophobic Modi has done more for India's energy geopolitical interests in the Gulf states in 5 years then decades of secular-minority-friendly INC rule
To understand what drives PM Modi's energy security policies, just observe what he did as Gujarat CM. He pushed for a diversification of Gujarat's energy portfolio & particular increased the usage of natural gas in the state. Gujarat is now no. 1 in India for gas based power
Gujarat produces roughly 28% of gas generated power in India. That is an impressive stat! | State-wise all India allocated power capacity as of November 2015 web.archive.org/web/2016030405…
