In case you missed it ...
During the refugee crisis, the city of Berlin alone welcomed four times as many Syrian refugees as the whole of Britain. Yet Brexiters still screamed that we were "full up!".
This is a pro-refugee poster from Germany which captured the feeling of the vast majority in the country. It's translation reads: "Arrived Alone, Moving Forward Together"
And here is the ugly truth about British racists. They used Nazi imagery to create a fear of refugees, and then instrumentalised that fear to get their Brexit.
Yes! 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
All parties in the Munich City Council have agreed to ask UEFA to light their stadium in rainbow colours for Germany's game against Hungary, as a protest against Viktor Orban's anti LGBT laws 🇩🇪 🇪🇺 🏳️🌈
Manuel Neuer was already wearing a rainbow coloured captain's armband for Germany's game against France 🇩🇪 🇪🇺 🏳️🌈
So tragic. 1/3 "French and German educational trip organisers who bring as many as 750,000 school pupils to the UK every year have warned that tougher post-Brexit entry requirements are likely to cut the number of young Europeans visiting Britain by half." theguardian.com/education/2021…
2/3 "They are particularly concerned about the abolition of collective passports – the 'list of travellers' scheme that allowed non-EU students, usually from immigrant families, to travel as part of an EU organised group without needing a UK visa."
3/3 "Between 5% and 10% of German children on school trips to the UK would need to apply for a visa costing £95 under the new rules, the companies said, while half of French trips would be at risk for the same reason."
"Marta, 24, was sent to the Colnbrook Immigration Removal Centre. All her personal belongings were seized. 'My window had bars, the walls barbed wire'. Another young woman from Tuscany had been held there 5 days. Dozens of EU citizens have suffered the same fate since Jan 1st."
"EU citizens are being sent to immigration removal centres and held in airport detention rooms as the UK’s 'hostile environment' policy falls on them after Brexit. Even Europeans with job interviews are among those being denied entry and locked up."
I hope all those European journalists who haven't wanted to believe so far that the UK is now run by fascists will read this, and finally realise that the old Britain they loved so much is dead.
Never forget ...
Scotland has the GDP of Hungary, but with a smaller population. It has extensive fishing wsters, a surplus of green energy, an international identity and world class products & services. An independent Scotland in the EU would also attract many English businesses
Scotland also has the same Human Development Index rating as Austria
🏴 🇦🇹 🇪🇺
(HDI is a statistic composite index that combines life expectancy, education and per capita income.)
As for those saying Scottish EU membership "won't be easy", they're lying. Leading EU stakeholders have repeatedly promised Scotland fast full membership. Why? Because they all know that Scotland BELONGS in the EU! 🏴 🇪🇺
A thread from German news:
"You don't hear much about Brexit in the UK these days. Which is astonishing, just 3 months after the biggest change in British post-war history. The reality, however, is that in the slipstream of the pandemic, Brexit damage is steadily increasing."
👇
"Yet the most astonishing thing about the current situation is not that no one on the island wants to talk about Brexit and its consequences anymore, the most astonishing thing is that Johnson is still unable to explain to anyone why these sacrifices were actually necessary."
👇
"The much-heralded trade deal with the USA is still a long way off, and comparable deals with India and other former colonial territories are unrealistic in the medium term. The mantra of a new 'Global Britain' has so far remained nothing but an empty phrase."
