the crazification number is pretty steady. a vast majority of people live in reality, which i think is actually a positive sign.
these numbers line up pretty well with this old poll showing 31% support for nixon at height of watergate
i wrote a post last summer noting that even at moments when we "remember" everyone agreeing on things, there's still always about 30-40% who don't agree. eg when goldwater got spanked he still got 38% of vote. oliverwillis.com/why-a-landslid…
i think one of the few modern things where everyone really did agree was "fuck al qaeda." and even then there were probably about 2% who were like "let's hear them out."

man some of you have completely bought the notion that liberals only want the most high minded media and its like you've never gotten outside of your own echo chambers.
this is gonna sound mean-ish but im going to need for you to realize that not everybody has the same exact media diet/habits as you. this is like me assuming everybody is into superhero movies even if thats obviously not the case.
"liberals only want high minded stuff"

*looks at all the years of media mocking trumps and bushes*

liberal talk radio never worked

*ignores years of lib radio that has worked and points out air america had massive flaws from launch*

the dem hysteria over the supposed damage of "defund the police" is silly esp when you consider that republican attacks have never needed to be based in reality and somehow an activist chant gave the gop magical permission to make the accusation.
honestly if i were a republican id start saying nonsense like "democrats said they want to legalize crime and now theyre doing it. all over america the legalize crime movement is taking hold, you have to elect republicans to stop dems from legalizing crime."
dems think gop attacks need to be somehow rooted in reality and progressives have to always be on their toes so they dont give republicans ammo -- but theyre just making it up anyway!

heres another good example of *just say something* and why republicans are smart to do it and jesus democrats should too
jim jordan's letter is dumb and nonsensical. it also latches on to current events and frames an issue, generating coverage.

Would be nice if we tried to start explaining current trends w a narrative instead of being caught off guard w right wing narratives (and no before you say it, this isn’t the DNC’s job)
“Crime is up cause Trump let the virus spread” I mean, something, please.
When things are happening, people want an explanation. The right is very good at saying “because liberals” and 99.999/100 it has no relation to reality. But it works. “Your coffee tastes bad this morning because of Obamacare.”

I keep telling you all the mainstream media is a dumpster fire doused in 100,000lbs of excrement beneath decades of refuse and you won’t believe me and think there’s some hope. Also kind of weak for Smith here not to go into NYT-Tucker connections.
The worst quality of liberals is probably their naïveté and there is nothing liberals are more naive about than the media. There is less than zero hope for media redemption. Ever.
This reminds me of how Haberman used to use Roger Stone for Trump sourcing all the time and it never bothered anyone in the msm (and even if it did they would never say anything cause they cover for each other like dirty cops or the mob)
