NEW: We just obtained more documents from Arizona’s sham election “audit.” Records show audit leader Randy Pullen was in contact both with conspiracy theorists and Republican leadership regarding the partisan recount. #AZleg americanoversight.org/document/arizo…
Bruce Ash, the former national committeeman of the AZ Republican Party, forwarded Pullen an email Ash sent to Republican National Committee Co-chair Tommy Hicks essentially asking for RNC funding to defend against challenges to the sham “audit.”
The records suggest that Pullen, who is now involved in the bogus “audit” in an official capacity, was communicating directly with conspiracy theorist Jovan Hutton Pulitzer at least as far back as February.
We previously obtained communications between Arizona Senate President Karen Fann and Pulitzer.
Next, we obtained text messages between right-wing agitator Christine Bauserman and Pullen in which the two discussed election conspiracy theorist Bobby Piton’s connection to the bogus review.
Piton was a witness at an unofficial hearing held by Rudy Giuliani last November, where he claimed without evidence that the election was stolen. azmirror.com/2021/06/22/the…
With each new set of documents we obtain, we see further evidence of the influence of conspiracy theorists on the sham “audit” in Arizona. Read more about our ongoing investigation here: americanoversight.org/investigation/…

LAWSUIT UPDATE: Today, we filed a new brief in our lawsuit against the Arizona Senate for records related to its sham “audit.” The public has a right to the facts about the audit and its objectives, and we’re continuing to seek answers. americanoversight.org/document/ameri…
On May 19, we filed suit under Arizona’s public records law after the Senate failed to release documents related to the Maricopa County “audit,” including communications with contractor Cyber Ninjas.
We’ve already uncovered troubling documents, including emails from top leaders of the audit process:
Records we obtained, reported on by @maddow, show a group had gone door to door to more than 3,000 homes asking Arizonans about their votes in the 2020 election.
The group, called the Citizen’s Non-Partisan Grassroots Project, put together a report in early March, which we obtained. The report alleges that 52% of the houses canvassed in Maricopa and Pima Counties “required an affidavit for an irregularity.” americanoversight.org/document/arizo…
The report’s dubious conclusions — and the fact that non-official canvassers were engaging in potential voter intimidation — shows the level of conspiracy surrounding the “Big Lie” and Arizona’s bogus “audit.” americanoversight.org/newly-released…
Records we obtained further show top DHS officials during the Trump administration were in contact with far-right anti-immigrant groups. americanoversight.org/document/dhs-c…
We FOIA’d DHS in 2020 for Ken Cuccinelli’s and Chad Mizelle’s communications with anti-immigrant groups after they became the DHS acting deputy secretary and acting chief of staff.
The documents show Mizelle and Chad Wolf, who served as the acting DHS secretary, were in contact with far-right anti-immigrant groups, including the Federation for American Immigration Reform, an @SPLC-designated hate group.
More than 6 months after the presidential election, the lies about a stolen election & voter fraud haven't stopped circulating.
Last week, we learned more about the former president’s attempt to overturn the election and the ongoing effort to undermine faith in democracy. THREAD
Last week, new emails released to Congress revealed the extent to which the Trump White House exerted pressure on DOJ and acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen to support baseless claims of widespread voter fraud and even bring a case to SCOTUS. 2/ americanoversight.org/news-roundup-f…
The emails showed that in December 2020, when Attorney General William Barr was on his way out the door, Trump’s assistant forwarded Rosen a report, later debunked, alleging a conspiracy about election machines in a rural Michigan county. 3/
Much of the Senate’s sham process has been shrouded in secrecy. Outside organizations have raised money for the recount, with the operation’s official Twitter account even having solicited donations to those organizations.
The Twitter account drew attention in late April and early May for inflammatory tweets that apparently had been sent by volunteers before audit spokesman Ken Bennett was able to regain control of the account. azmirror.com/blog/bennett-s…
New: In December, Texas filed a lawsuit that asked SCOTUS to overturn the 2020 election results in 4 states.
Documents we obtained, reported on by @TPM, show a draft of the lawsuit was circulated to the Louisiana AG’s office before it was filed. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/louisiana…
The version sent to the Louisiana AG’s office is very similar to the one filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on December 8, 2020.
But this version was intended to be filed by Louisiana and would sue over the results in 6 states instead of 4. americanoversight.org/document/louis…
After Paxton initially rebuffed a group of lawyers who wanted to overturn the election, the attorneys asked Louisiana in late November to bring a case to the Supreme Court, as the @NYtimes previously reported. This draft lawsuit was previously unreleased. nytimes.com/2021/01/31/us/…
