politics absolutely but would be interested to see this plotted against states with strong industry in medical schools & healthcare work. PA infamously has pennsyltucky to contend with but even there you can’t turn over a rock without finding a family member in the field
I run into plenty of anti vaxxing MAGA nuts but even in the reddest counties they’re outnumbered five to one by MAGA nuts who still ran out to get a vaccine because they had a lot of external pressure from family & friends working in a medical field
kinda suspect that is not so much the case in, like, oklahoma
my unscientific theory is this shit is a twofold thing: density ratio of medically educated people to medically uneducated people first, politics second

I’ve got major problems with the beige trim on the bucks’ court logo. if you’re gonna use a trim this color you’ve gotta go with a darker court color so it pops. just a waste of paint
logo would actually look pretty great with zero trim tbh

seems that the lab leak debate is broadly missing by a mile on factoring in a critical element. whether covid emerged entirely organically or through some choose-your-own-adventure human containment error, in either hypothetical, china’s behavior will be indistinguishable
if it’s entirely organic: they’ll cover it up
if it’s accidental release: they’ll cover it up
if it’s malicious intent: they’ll cover it up
the good faith theories all recognize this dynamic but the bad faith ones use the cover-up behavior as evidence, when it is in fact just evidence of china being china and not any indicator of which scenario played out

pretty sure the failure to level the appropriate personal economic cost for not getting vaccinated is the bigger threat than whatever variant we’re worried about today
everything in society should be more expensive if you want to go through life as a willing vector. tax the shit out of the biological drunk drivers

about a year ago charlie could barely walk down the street or sit in a chair for ten minutes until he discovered researching spike protein
dude is already 58 years old and not even out of his 20’s please take only the medicine he wants
drugs are bad unless they are 100% drug free who the fuck even knows what’s in it but charlie can walk again

the people I feel awful for are these people’s family & friends who got vaccinated and hated watching their loved ones make a terrible choice to not get a shot & now have to attend their funeral carrying that sadness & anger. truly the most selfish behavior imaginable.
when people tell you to get vaccinated it means “I don’t want you to die & hurt the people around you”. when people tell you not to it means “I’m insecure in my death cult and want you to join me in hurting others for my own reassurance”
the real cherry on top is the screeching demands that I “respect the choice to not get vaccinated” and not treat your choice with the disdain reserved for drunk drivers and the like. fuck your choice. you deserve your lower societal strata of eternal scorn
