Thread. 1. Cases rising rapidly among school children and their parents who have not been vaccinated or only partially vaccinated. Teenagers with serious health conditions who are mixing with 100s each day and not yet vaccinated.
2. Hundreds of thousands of children in school with chronic illnesses who previously had to shield. Families are worried and fed up. Children told to take masks off. Very little mention of long covid in children, even children without health conditions are suffering terribly.
3. Learning to live with a virus is not acceptable when we are constantly putting children at risk, irrelevant of how many get seriously unwell, nobody knows the long term effects.
4. Has there been any studies into the mental health effect being forced into school with chronic conditions has had on children? Or the effects of constantly having to self isolate? We can tell you that 1000s of children in the shieldus community are struggling.
5. Some schools we have heard have now even scrapped home learning mainly to deter families from keeping their children off school....what about the children who are off school sick not due to covid?
6. Why is there not home learning available for all children who have to have prolonged periods of time off due to ill health anyway?

Today A National day of reflection has been organised by end-of-life charity Marie Curie for us to come together and remember those who have died during the coronavirus pandemic and to support those who have lost loved ones.
2. A year ago today we entered our first national lockdown, since then life has changed more than most of us could ever have imagined. New words we never knew even existed have become part of our daily vocabulary such as: ‘furlough’ ‘social distancing’ and ‘shielding’.
3. Today we want to reflect on the past year and acknowledge the strength and resilience that people have shown.
· To those of you who have lost loved ones this year for any reason, our love and thoughts are with you today and always.
