Republicans can’t win democratically, so they have turned on democracy. That seems clear.
But American democracy also has momentum of its own & voters seem increasingly ready to do battle with voting restrictions.
The 2022 elections should be explicitly reframed as the voters v. the voting restrictions.
There’s a clear role for the private sector here.
Most US corporations are still pro-democracy because “consumerism is democracy” is the American brand. At the same time, the GOP leadership has baited “woke” (lol) Coke, MLB, Delta, Merck, Starbucks, & Google & threatens to deny tax breaks.
These companies should call their bluff.
Here are my simple ideas for how, come Election Day, America’s national drink, Coca-Cola, musth” hard-sell democracy to the United States of America, the way it sold democracy to France, Germany, the former Soviet States, Asia, etc.
The best thing I can imagine in Georgia in 2022 is a Coke truck on every street corner handing out free Dasani and Coke and Sprite to voters. Within, of course, the letter of the new 150ft restriction.
Coke promotes the vote in South Africa and around the world. Why not here?
While the poor jacked US is busy avoiding moral rigor as usual—no truth & reconciliation, no reparations—Coke needs to bring back the easier and more familiar American path: Sugar water for our troubles, and voting as heroism.

Branding schmanding. What's terrible about Victoria's Secret is the product: those excruciatingly abrasive and pieces of petroleum-based twine that pass through the buttocks and barely cover the genitals
The 7 new ambassadors, the VS collective, are lovely, but 4 of them are models, and one is a TV personality. Two are athletes. Five are under 30; one is a teenager.
The candy-colored polymers go for $20-$80 for a few tablespoons of fabric that's hostile to the skin and the body.
Exposés in Bloomberg and elsewhere show VS uses sweatshops and even slave labor.
Important to note that Dr. James Lindsay (Ph.D., mathematics, 2010) is most known as a hoaxer who considers the language of the humanities gibberish and likes to send it up (as so many have done since the early 90s).
Where Marc Lamont Hill (Ph.D., American Studies, 2005 [I think]) has, along w/his work in journalism, directed a dozen dissertations & has a frankly exhausting CV that includes, among too many books & articles w/illustrious publishers to count, fluent Spanish & solid Arabic.
Prophecies are all duds. No more Q. No more messiah Trump. Q Shaman in jail. Powell says there’s no plan. Even Flynn says major ideas are nonsense. Infighting. Many want straight anti-Semitism; some still want to shill for intravenous bleach.
Nothing gold can stay.
The Watkins porn duo created Q — that’s common knowledge now, no?
