Hi! I’m @KatelynFossett, author of Women Rule, our weekly newsletter on women and politics, policy, business and media.

We just relaunched the newsletter today and I wanted to tell all of you what we’re hoping to accomplish 🧵 politi.co/35VLUbr
@KatelynFossett We started the Women Rule newsletter in 2019 knowing we wanted to build a community for women in Washington and across the world. We wanted to cover how women were shaping the world and how the news was affecting them.

So, we dove right in. politi.co/35VLUbr
Over the years we’ve been wanting to pull back and recommit ourselves to a high-impact, newsy, original product that you, our readers, consider essential and of-the-moment.

We also want to use it as an opportunity to build our relationship with readers. politi.co/35VLUbr
Why now? The pandemic has shown us that the more gender-inclusive world we have built over the last several decades was vulnerable to disruption at any moment.

We need to ask ourselves how we can achieve truly equal workplaces and households… politi.co/35VLUbr
... so that women, too, can unlock their full potential.

We will keep tabs on these questions and the women who work at the highest levels, with a special eye on the first-ever woman VP and a historically gender-diverse cabinet and Congress. politi.co/35VLUbr
We’ll be tackling these issues with a more defined look and feel and a number of original, news-y features as well as more weekend-appropriate content.

You can also expect a shorter newsletter, to make sure we’re being considerate of your time. politi.co/35VLUbr
And you can expect the same things you love: interviews, Q&As, quick-take analysis and career transitions.

Questions? Feedback on the relaunch? Email me at kfossett@politico.com.

We hope you love the new newsletter.

@KatelynFossett 👋

@KatelynFossett P.S. If you were to ask one woman in Washington for career advice, who would you ask?

After 6 months of laying low, Trump's back on the trail with revenge on his mind. He began his MAGA tour Saturday to endorse a former aide who's challenging Rep. Anthony Gonzalez – a Republican who voted to impeach Trump after Jan. 6 politi.co/3ditOnT

Spotted at Trump's rally last night:
• Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who spread election conspiracies
• MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, who made overturning the election a personal crusade and is being sued for defamation

Math teacher Douglas Frank gave an unusual PowerPoint presentation at Trump's rally yesterday, with charts and numbers meant to convince people he has data to prove the false claims of widespread election fraud.

The crowd sat quietly as he clicked through.

Biden, Schumer and Pelosi unveiled a new strategy yesterday for getting the president’s agenda passed.

Basically, If Biden’s proposal for “family infrastructure” and climate change doesn’t pass, then neither will the bipartisan infrastructure deal.

But getting all Dems to agree on a budget resolution in July is going to be difficult for Schumer and Pelosi. They have little wiggle room due to their slim majorities, and their conferences are divided over how big this Democrats-only bill should be. politico.com/newsletters/pl…
Notably, there were only five Republicans at the White House on Thursday. This infrastructure deal is dead without at least five more. politico.com/newsletters/pl…

Hi! I’m David @Giambusso, POLITICO's NYC editor. Our bureau chief, the incomparable @SallyGold, is co-moderating tonight’s debate with our colleagues at WNBC and Telemundo 47 so I’m serving as hype man for the festivities.

Here’s why the debate is so important. 🧵
Tonight is basically the last, best chance for the leading NYC mayoral candidates to make their case and for those in the back of the pack to make a splash.

@erinmdurkin, @muoiod and @madinatoure lay out what to expect: politico.com/states/new-yor…
While this is a local race involving local issues, a few factors have made it the object of national attention. For one, of course, New York is the biggest (and best) city in the U.S. and always tends to get a lot of media attention.

Biden and Putin kicked off their highly-anticipated meeting today amid escalating tensions over cyber attacks, human rights and election interference politico.com/news/2021/06/1…
The handshake:

Biden and Putin briefly shook hands before the cameras, then walked into an 18th-century Swiss villa overlooking Lake Geneva, where they are expected to meet for several hours politi.co/3gIJ3aW

Biden and Putin are expected to meet for several hours today, taking a few breaks. This is not the type of gathering where success can be declared or denied immediately, and we’re told not to expect any major agreements. politico.com/news/2021/06/1…

With Covid-19 vaccines authorized for adults and teens, the FDA is now working to make sure the vaccines are safe and effective for younger children.

Here are the three main issues the FDA panel considered at its meeting today 🧵
politico.com/news/2021/06/1…
1. Safety:
The committee mainly focused on assessing whether the vaccines are safe for children.

One big consideration for regulators: Children's developing immune systems appear to react to Covid-19 differently than do those of adults.
politico.com/news/2021/06/1…
2. Measuring efficacy:
Vaccine efficacy trials compare the number of infections in participants who got the shot to those who got a placebo.

But kids are less prone to symptomatic Covid, so a pediatric vaccine trial could take longer. politico.com/news/2021/06/1…
