I turned 30 today. Yayyy!!!

Don't know why it is considered as "end of life."
I have been brimming with energy, new habits and agility of a kid all this month :))

Well, on that note, here are 3 takeaways from me to you, on my 30th birthday:
1. If you have high levels of empathy, you are GOLD.
2. If you put your head down and do the good old hard work, you are a DIAMOND.
3. If you let the moods and actions of others determine your days, you allow your gold and diamond to turn into iron - whose rust eats itself.

Make your moves wisely.
And, now, I need a gift from you on my birthday.

Please please call a loved one and tell them you love them.
The one who is not expecting a call.
The one who only gives.
The one who rarely expects.

I don't want you to reply "Done", because I trust you.

Thanks, for the gift :)

7 interview mistakes that take people away from their dream job or dream college
(And how to avoid them)

A thread
The other day a neighbour reached out to me.
They wanted me to help their 18yo prepare for a college interview.

“Cool,” I said, and sent her two YT videos.

And told her to get back with what she learnt from those.
Two days later, she requested me for preparing answers (after researching), and also write that kid’s strengths and weaknesses.

Tbh, I felt very sorry for her, for relying on a magic bullet I could probably give, instead of working hard on presenting her real self.

7 truths no one tells you about managing your focus

A thread
Last week, I had an interview with a startup for a part-time role as Content Strategist.

When I told them the list of work I do, their question :
“How do you get time to even breathe?

"I don’t work for more than two hours a day."

How I manage my focus
A thread
1. Chunking
Every weekend, I write the tasks I've to do next week + the hours it'd take. Include client deliverables.
I also plan the time of reading.

For new client calls and cold outreach, the hours other than “two work hours” are used.

There are books that teach you about money.

Then there are books that teach you about money like no one else does.

@morganhousel's Psychology of Money falls in the latter.

18 lessons from the book

A thread
1. Doing well with money is less about how smart you are and more about how you behave.

And behaviour is hard to teach.
2. Focus less on specific individual case studies and more on broad patterns.

If only we knew how much negativity we spread in the world because of watching the news...
If only we knew how much others were scared because of our anger...
If only we understood that in very few places we need to stop trying...
