Per ProPublica:
More evidence of what we know to be true:
Sr Trump officials were warned that 1/6 could turn chaotic
Instead of stopping the march Trump and his allies "fooled" the USCP
& accommodated the Stop the Steal leaders
(thread)

2/"ProPublica has obtained new details about the Trump White House’s knowledge of the gathering storm, after interviewing more than 50 people involved in the events of Jan. 6 and reviewing months of private correspondence.
3/"Taken together, these accounts suggest that senior Trump aides had been warned the Jan. 6 events could turn chaotic, with tens of thousands of people potentially overwhelming ill-prepared law enforcement officials.
4/"Rather than trying to halt the march, Trump and his allies accommodated its leaders, according to text messages and interviews with Republican operatives and officials.
5/"Katrina Pierson, a former Trump campaign official assigned by the White House to take charge of the rally planning, helped arrange a deal where those organizers deemed too extreme to speak at the Ellipse could do so on the night of Jan. 5.
6/"That event ended up including incendiary speeches from Jones and Ali Alexander, the leader of Stop the Steal, who fired up his followers with a chant of “Victory or death!”
7/".. One of the Women for America First organizers told ProPublica he and his group felt they needed to urgently warn the White House of the possible danger.
8/"'A last-minute march, without a permit, without all the metro police that’d usually be there to fortify the perimeter, felt unsafe,' Dustin Stockton said in a recent interview.
9/"'And these people aren’t there for a fucking flower contest,” added Jennifer Lynn Lawrence, Stockton’s fiancee and co-organizer. “They’re there because they’re angry.'
10/"Stockton said he and Kremer initially took their concerns to Pierson. Feeling that they weren’t gaining enough traction, Stockton said, he and Kremer agreed to call Meadows directly.
11/"Kremer, who has a personal relationship with Meadows .. said she would handle the matter herself. Soon after, Kremer told Stockton “the White House would take care of it,” which he interpreted to mean she had contacted top officials about the march.
12/"Kremer denied that she ever spoke with Meadows or any other White House official about her Jan. 6 concerns. “Also, no one on my team was talking to them that I was aware of,” she said in an email to ProPublica. Meadows declined to comment on whether he’d been contacted.
13/"A Dec. 27 text from Kremer obtained by ProPublica casts doubt on her assertion. Written at a time when her group was pressing to control the upcoming Jan. 6 rally, it refers to Alexander and Cindy Chafian, an activist who worked closely with Alex Jones.
14/"So far, congressional and law enforcement reconstructions of Jan. 6 have established failures of preparedness and intelligence sharing by the U.S. Capitol Police, the FBI and the Pentagon, which is responsible for deploying the D.C. National Guard.
15/"But those reports have not addressed the role of White House officials in the unfolding events and whether officials took appropriate action before or during the rally.
16/" Legislation that would have authorized an independent commission to investigate further was quashed by Senate Republicans.
17/"Our reporting raises new questions that will not be answered unless Trump insiders tell the story of that day. It remains unclear .. precisely what Meadows and other WH officials learned of safety concerns about the march and whether they took those reports seriously. .."

Last night The Intercept broke a call Joe Manchin had with a billionaire donor gp asking for help with 3 more votes on 1/6 Commission
-his "last, best argument" for keeping the filibuster
Poss ethics violations trying to get a Blunt vote
Thin line Senator!
theintercept.com/2021/06/16/joe…
2/"Manchin told the assembled donors that he needed help flipping a handful of Republicans from no to yes on the January 6 commission in order to strip the “far left” of their best argument against the filibuster. om lines.
3/"The filibuster is a critical priority for the donors on the call, as it bottles up progressive legislation that would hit their bottom lines. When it came to Sen. Roy Blunt, a moderate Missouri Republican who voted no on the commission, Manchin offered a creative solution.

On top of all the other Trump spygate news
We now know the extent to which Meadows pressured DOJ

2/"during a House Oversight Committee hearing on Tuesday probing the security failures that led to the insurrection, it was revealed that on more than 50 occasions, Parler had attempted to warn the FBI of the growing potential for violence.
3/"Parler had uncovered “specific threats of violence being planned at the Capitol” on its platform and was apparently ready to sing like a canary in the weeks leading up to January 6, outing its own members and providing transcripts of the concerning communication to the feds.

NYT pointing out that Don McGahn was Trump campaign's top lawyer in 2016 & interacted with Manafort
Trump DOJ subpoenaed McGahn's personal info the day AFTER Mueller unsealed new fraud charges against Manafort
Was this about Russia, too?
(thread)
nytimes.com/2021/06/13/us/…
2/"One of the roughly concurrent events was that the federal court in the EDVA was the center of one part of the Russia inquiry led by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, that focused on Paul Manafort, the onetime chairman of the 2016 Trump presidential campaign
3/"Because Mr. McGahn had been the top lawyer for the Trump campaign in 2016, it is possible that at some earlier point he had been among those in contact with someone whose account the Mueller team was scrutinizing in early 2018

New:
Giving new meaning to targeting political opponents:
"Trump had the DOJ seize records from Apple for metadata of House Intelligence Committee members, their aides & family members"
Unsurprising
Yet still absolutely stunning:
nytimes.com/2021/06/10/us/…
2/"As the Justice Department investigated who was behind leaks of classified information early in the Trump administration, it took a highly unusual step: Prosecutors subpoenaed Apple for data from the accounts of at least two Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee,
3/"aides and family members. One was a minor. All told, the records of at least a dozen people tied to the committee were seized in 2017 and early 2018, including those of Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, then the panel’s top Democrat and now its chairman,

Chris Murphy issued a statement today saying that gun control talks with Cornyn have broken down
The issue: agreeing on a measure to meaningfully increase the number of gun sales that require background checks
He says he's now "talking with other" GOP about this
Not looking good
Sen Murphy's statement:
"I’ve spent a lot of time talking with Senator Cornyn about proposals to increase background checks. I have been very open to compromise and I think Senator Cornyn was negotiating in good faith.
⬇️
"But we haven't been able to get to a bill that would meaningfully increase the number of gun sales that require background checks
