Time for the Monday Covid numbers:
🌡 254 cases, ⬆️ 94 from last week
😔 2 deaths, 2,365 total
🏥 220 hospitalized
🧪 2,121 people tested, 12% pos., 6,936 total tests, 3.7% pos.
📈 7-day avg, 348 cases/day, 9.6%/6.4% pos.
💉 2,846,668 vaccines given, up 2,722 #utpol
Quite a bit not to like here. Cases are up 19% from last week.

Hospitalizations are up 5. Covid patients in ICU up 4 to 72. Referral ICUs are 70% full.

Info on the 2 deaths:
• Emery female, 65-84, hospitalized
• SLCo male, 85+, hospitalized

#utpol
We now have 5th death from a breakthrough case. But should emphasize these are very, very rare.

And of the 2,437 cases in the past week, 2,237 have been in unvaxxed people. The 7-day infection rate per 100k for unvaccinated people is 120 compared to 14.9 for fully vaxxed. #utpol
No variant numbers today.

Vaccinations very low (typical for Mon.).
• 1,570,854 w/ 1 shot, up 1,201. 48% of all Utahns, 60.4% of eligible.

• 1,396,838 fully vaxxed, up 1,643. 42.7% of Utahns, 53.7% of those eligible.

On pace to get 70% of adults 1 shot around Oct. 1. #utpol
Actually I made a mistake in that calculation. On pace to hit 70% of adults with 1 shot by mid-to-late September.

Utah is now 4th among states with fastest growth (5th if you count Guam).

Very choppy. #utpol

One of these deaths appears to have been a breakthrough case, so now four vaccinated people have died (compared to about 612 unvaccinated, give or take a couple).

For the past week 2,022 unvaccinated people have tested positive, compared to 226 (~10%) vaccinated people. #utpol

Listening in on the @Intermountain presser on vaccine plans.

Dr. Kristin Dascomb: Excited to be able to offer this to our caregivers. Two hospitals have received it, Utah Valley and LDS. Vaccinations expected to begin Wednesday, starting w/ those in COVID units. #utpol
@Intermountain Driscomb: Will be a tracking system for adverse events. Will be administered when providers can take a day off to recover from symptoms.

Was transported to pharmacy, stored. Will be thawed and administered one at a time to avoid crowds. #utpol
Now, @E_Stenehjem, calls it “historic week in health care.” 16 million cases, 296,000 deaths, 1,055 deaths in Utah. “More deaths will come” but we’re hopeful. All of our lives have been impacted. Today signals the beginning of the end of COVID in Utah. #utpol
