walking a dog in a small town / suburban area manifests a perfect [government / community / social practice] though experiment. everyone walks their dogs. the dogs all need to use the bathroom somewhere. yet, all property is owned by specific individuals. [...]
you can try and have your dog just go at your own house but realistically at some point on walks the dog needs to go to the bathroom somewhere. this is an unavoidable problem. yet, there is really no social protocol for what to do here. its a grey area. [...]
would a random person mind if my dog happened to pee on their lawn? i wouldnt really care if someone did that on my lawn. i feel like, it happens, i get it. yet, im not totally confident that others feel this way also. i guess it would be reasonable if they didnt. its their lawn.
so one is forced to behave as though no one is cool with it. so, what do you do then? we’re all walking these dogs, i guess we all just pretend this doesnt happen and develop a weird subculture of hoping no one is looking to deal with this inevitable problem.
and then, to further this illustrative issue, that is real, but is also a good analogy for many things, the only “open” spaces are a few churches. that feels worse, almost. obviously im not going to go there, to do that, for a variety of reasons. so, what is to be done.
theoretically a tight knit community could reach some reasonable compromise. like, maybe the first foot of your lawn, its right next to the road, that seems reasonable. no gardens. certainly not letting the dog go much further in than a foot, we could have some rules here.
but some people dont have dogs and could object to this entirely. u could really illuminate your own cohesive theory of government and community by addressing this problem. i see the people, with their dogs, far from home. what are they doing, in the shadows of the neighborhood.
i cant bank on any random person not being offended if they happen to see my dog doing this on their property. i cannot bank on us having shared values with regards to this topic. this is a cohesive microcosm of the collapse of a shared normal society with set standards.
already gotten dms from people saying both they would be very angry to see a dog peeing on their lawn + people saying 100% no one cares. thus i feel confirmed in suspecting this is a perfect node of what happens in a liminal social space with no set standard (anarchy, breakdown)
the people need rules to have harmony

as this is the most epically boring thing everyone is trotting out to beat with a stick now ill happily take a contrarian position. past a certain point in the history of visual culture you cant really fully dismiss things as being “just commercial” or meant to sell something.
suppose the most solid position to take here for an online discourse would be that all video game art is also meant to sell something (the video game), so, in order for this to be a cohesive position u have to say that any emotional reaction to art meant to sell something is bad
you could even take it further back and say, so, any art commissioned to put forth something is dumb now? or is it just bad to see it as embodying a vibe that youd like to partake of. because i dont smoke cigarettes but this image rules. qualitatively its in the same department:
baja blast mountain dew is made from mesoamerican jade that has been turned to liquid in a furnace, hence the name (and color)
theres even a jadeite version and a nephrite version
for this reason, several years ago UNESCO quietly banned mountain dew from operating in places with rare or in danger jade artifacts or deposits (for example, most people are unaware that there is jade from places such as italy and poland).
last week of moving. lost track of what day it is. woke up surrounded by boxes. cut off from my creative station i have resorted to announcing my posts to random passerby. drawing on the street in white chalk and inviting pedestrians to come look. look. i must get back in action.
at so called parenting class other less refined adults recoil at my statement that i will dig a small harmless punishment divet and place my boy into it if he fails to use classical proportions when building with blocks. thats fine. they are not part of the spiritual aristocracy.
got the wifi modem moved out of the bedroom. woman on the phone asks what the “reason” for the move is. presumably i am not required to volunteer this information, but i do. “my wifes pregnant. im trying not to microwave the babys brain, u know?”. she is “not familiar with that”.
usually i try and stay positive and not point blank call someone an idiot but these tweets are like an hour apart
the anti-federalist papers were published anonymously also. people arguing anonymously using fake names was in some ways actual the genesis of the country
kind of on a pause over here like i said before but u know i have to post since its in my blood so just gonna keep things in this thread until my full triumphant return

the “experts” have finally pushed me too far
about to see owenius (tiny owen) on the babyscan screen. i have some to refer to this experience as the natalophony. not sure if they will adopt this term.
OPHANIM painting hour is [not] going down tonight. moving with complications is taking longer than i thought so gonna call an official little pause in general here, will return triumphantly in a week to continue summer of power. we will resume broadcast from the new HQ shortly.
the new studio set up is next level. been kind of stuffed into a little cluttered room this whole time ngl, now i have a legit little library set up in this alcove, getting the full mega-easel set up, multiple desks, can really lay out my tools, actually use my books. new chapter
in a week-ish. consider this hibernation the start of my initiation into full esoteric dad-ism. find out the gender of owenius (mini-owen) in a few days. i filled about five bookshelves + spent a minute planning out subsections so i could actually actively easily access them all:
