A Season of Charity

Among ‘charities’ popped to collect funds to #HelpIndiaBreathe was Muslim Aid. The ‘Charity’ had distinction of a convicted war criminal as its chairman– Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin, who killed 100s of Bengali intellectuals in 1971. (2/15)

A Loot by several hands:

Muslim Aid collected funds through at least 3 of fronts– the US, UK, & Australia. They all ran several fundraisers through social media as well as through the shady fundraising platform #LaunchGood apart from taking direct funds through websites. (3/15)

Driving the Covid Crisis Narrative:

These fronts used several unrelated pictures for projecting Covid crisis, most of which were bought from Getty Images/Shutterstock. A 2018 pic of TB patient & pic of Rohingya girls from Malaysia were used to depict Covid crisis in India (4/15)

Double Face of Charity:

A common pattern among all these fronts is that they use Pak version of map while depicting J&K & Leh, but switched to Indian version, while seeking donations from India & on behalf of India. Worth noting, International orgs. use global standards.(5/15)

Muslim Aid Australia engaged Dr. Bilal Philips for raising funds, who has been deported/banned from 6 countries including Australia, due to his terror links (Hamas & Taliban) & extremist views. Charities don't get better than this! (6/15)

Covid was not the 1st time these groups have collected money. They have mastered this a lucrative business model – just with help of a website & social media promotions keep collecting funds on every possible occasion from Kerala floods to Ramadan to Covid crisis. (7/15)

The Curious Case of Silent Philanthropy?

The Muslim Aid-Australia - which is raising funds in India, and in the name of India - has changed the setting of its Facebook page in a manner that one can’t access it from India! You can’t make this stuff up! (8/15)

Muslim Aid fronts are marred in controversies & forced to change office-bearers. The UK Commission in 2015 had set up an inquiry on MA-UK for financial frauds in Sudan & Gambia offices. Likewise, MA-USA had been shuffling members despite being inactive for years. (9/15)

MA-Pakistan recent addition to family, which opened in 2005. It has the glory of having Lt Gen. (retd) Khalid Latif Mughal (Gen. in-charge of ISI’s Analysis Wing) as Chairman & is known to work with Al-Khidmat (‘Charity’ wing of Jamaat-e-Islami which pets LeT and Hizbul) (10/15)

No coincidence that key players in the charities are of PAK origin or with JeI link and the industry seems to be coordinated from the ‘motherland’. E.g. FB pages of the fronts have admins from Pakistan & their Twitter handles reveal symbiotic relation. (11/15)

None of the platforms provide details of funds collected & deliveries made – other than fake pics & generalized claims. They also don't disclose local partners. It’s a miracle how they ‘help’ India! (12/15)

The Muslim Aid Fake Show:

It’s simple: use fake images for showing covid crisis & then use fake images for showing help delivered! Muslim Aid USA claimed to have donated an ambulance– with 2 images of its exterior & interior. These images are of 2 different ambulances. (13/15)

Zakir Naik & Bilal Philips were advisors in Islamic Education & Research Academy. Bilal is a frequent face on Peace TV. Zakir Naik is also linked with Jafer Qureshi (of MA-UK) in 2 of his ventures: Peace TV & Islamic Research Foundation. (14/15)

These groups portray as separate entities but are part of a well-orchestrated network of JeI-PAK & terror groups to advance the interests of a country. They don’t hesitate to exploit religious sentiments of millions of people who donate in good faith (15/15)
