For over 18 months I’ve seen people prove over and over again that lockdowns are, simply put, unscientific and ineffective BS.

Let’s remember please that when people tell you to “trust the experts” they didn’t mean the experts…

They meant sit down, shut up, obey, or you’re killing the vulnerable and a selfish sociopath. (Meanwhile Governor Cuomo…well we all know what happened there.)

I just read again the peer reviewed paper from 2006 that ended any illusion for me that we were acting or being lead..

by rational men and women with our best interests at heart.

The lies, deceptions, hypocrisy of course have not stopped nor did they only include denying all of us our basic human need for community and companionship. They denied us the right to basic healthcare

while, of course, pontificating on how we need to place not just our health but every part of our welfare in their hands or, once again, we are selfish and wish our neighbors or family members dead. The sick and truly evil (I don’t use this word lightly) of that propaganda…

….there are no words.

We have been encouraged to self segregate from one another, we have normalized wishing one another to be punished in the most inhuman ways imaginable, we are told we are all racist by bigots,

and we are lied to about what is and what is not a threat to our own and our loved ones safety, we are told we are facing crises after crises and told we must sacrifice or be labeled selfish and sociopathic killers who have no love for our children’s future. Meanwhile..

We have been told to lie to our children. We have been told to lie to our elderly. We have been told to lie to our families. Shunning is normal. Forgiveness is racism. Free expression of ideas is violence. Freely terrorizing our neighbors is justice.

Fearing being victimized or brutalized is hysteria. Trust all women has become call out white woman tears. We are told we have denied the truth of our shared history creating unfair inequities, yet we reject the power that trusting in our principles has proven priceless.

We nod at the idea that there are people who seek to take advantage of their power, we nod at the idea that we are imperfect beings, yet we take direction from men and women who have, as these 18 + months have shown, will not flinch at the idea of profiteering on our suffering.

We let children dictate manners. We let adults neglect and indulge children because they confuse their own shame and insecurity and lack of emotional strength with that of a child’s. Why? Remember in the 80s that phrase “kids raising kids?” Little did we know.

18 months ago some men and women were standing up and saying; hold on, think this through, something isn’t passing the sniff test, we’re forgetting those principles when we need them most. Many of these people were quickly deplatformed, shunned, mocked, libeled.

Many people still are.

Today we are watching as the machine that created so many wars; all of which seem to be wars upon one’s own people and this was what we once pointed to as the sign of the worst of the worst acts. Today? This in encouraged with snark and glee

by elected officials and media personalities alike; in newspapers, social media, late night and morning talk shows.

What’s my point? Other than holy shit? Please stop this? Well…

Back in March of 2020, as I mentioned, I saw the unmistakeable sign that something was very very very wrong. I remember wishing that this was wrong, that this couldn’t be what we have become, that we weren’t facing a kind of threat that blackened the last century.

Truth is…we are facing that. That’s the bad news. The good news is we may have caught it early. The other bad news is…if we don’t win, it’s possible our legacy will be that no one will ever know what we lost. I imagine the library of Alexandria burning, with no record of fire.

So…as we see variants, climate change, racism, equity and more being used as justification to once again demand we sacrifice to people who think themselves gods, remember…when they tell you to trust the experts; ask yourself why in hell you should trust them.
