Am working towards becoming an entrepreneur.
I recently attended a Masterclass on Entrepreneurship by Bhavish Aggarwal (@bhash ). So many learnings about starting up & the journey to success!

Here are a few pearls of wisdom I picked up:

Beyond my consulting work & investing, I am looking to take the entrepreneurial plunge! I have worked with many entrepreneurs but wanted to do a course on the basic underlying principles!
I stumbled upon this Masterclass & the fact that it was by Bhavish himself, excited me.
Bhavish Aggarwal needs no introduction! But for those who don’t know, he is the Co-founder of Ola, and one of the most popular & successful entrepreneurs in India.
He featured in the TIME Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People of 2018” list.
Having built Ola (cabs, foods, financial services, Electric) from scratch, Bhavish has walked the path of building a UNICORN!

What he shared in the Masterclass was immensely insightful! Here are some of the learnings that are stuck in my mind:
1. “THERE IS NO PERFECT IDEA in the world.” .. All the big iconic global companies started with a basic idea & have gone through many iterations of the seed idea.

Start with an idea, don’t worry about making it perfect! Getting started is more important.
2. Business is not about the idea but about the IMPACT it can have!

Aim to build a business which solves a challenging problem & has a high impact!
3. BACK YOURSELF!
Founders often doubt themselves, overthink or are confused about what to do! There will be naysayers & critics.
Listen to all but do what your heart says!
4. The startup phase sets the CULTURE of the company for the long-term! It is important to lay a strong foundation, for long term success.
5. It is critical to be CONSTANTLY IMPROVING your Customer Experience, your Technology prowess, your IPs & creating more institutional knowledge!
In the long term this will determine the growth & success of the business.
6. Founders need to be FLEXIBLE & NIMBLE! Have a vision but don’t be too rigid about it. Use market feedback, customer feedback to tweak & make required changes!

Having an open mind is important for long-term success!
7. VALUE CREATION & VALUATION ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS!
In the long term Valuation follows Value Creation!
8. Every entrepreneur should FOCUS ON VALUE CREATION, since this is in your control.
Your valuation will go up in the long-term if your fundamentals are strong!
9. Monetary Valuation is important but it is only the OUTCOME of everything else... not the Reason!

Input parameters to Valuation are Value Creators!
10. It’s crucial for an entrepreneur to know what’s happening in his/her industry, ALL OVER THE WORLD!
Should be aware of industry trends, innovations, tech advancements of the industry!

Use this info to create & accelerate technologies of the future!
11. Technology is a GLOBAL PHENOMENON! Not confined by geography, it is a great leveller Globally!

In the world of tech, you have to compete with the BEST IN THE WORLD!
12. PRODUCTIVITY HACK - Play to your strengths & let your team play to theirs! It’s important to know what you are weak at!

Be involved ONLY where you can add immense value.
13. BUILD A WORLD CLASS TEAM! Hire people who are better than you & can solve problems better.

Ensure your Vision & strategy is clear to your entire team!
14. Day after day, month after month, year after year, spend time KNOWING YOUR CUSTOMER!
15. The only resource we have is TIME!
The person who utilises it better will create more impact.
These are some amazing insights from an entrepreneur who is constantly setting new goals of growth & innovation!
I cannot capture all that Bhavish said in the Masterclass in one thread! There is a lot more about investor relations, customer study, productivity, acquisitions & mergers and dealing with crisis!
If you are an aspiring entrepreneur or have just started your journey, you must definitely take this Masterclass!
You can subscribe to it on Social Swag - bit.ly/3joY6td .
Check it out.
I hadn’t heard much about @SocialswagWorld before. So I did some research & found that it is Co-founded by Bollywood superstar @akshaykumar & South actor / entrepreneur @RanaDaggubati

END.

Was Cristiano Ronaldo right in removing the Coca-Cola bottles from the press conference table?

A (former) Sports marketeer’s perspective:

A THREAD
#threadsbyAP
Firstly, WHAT HAPPENED?
At one of the press conferences of the UEFA EURO football event, the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo removed bottles of Coke placed on the table & urged people to drink water instead.

(2/n)
Why is it a big deal?
This is a first time something like this has happened in a sports event of this magnitude.. where a player has gone right up against an event sponsor. Unsurprisingly, the video went viral.

6 money mistakes I made in my 20s which resulted in huge loss of time, opportunity & wealth:
A THREAD

1. NOT INVESTING: From childhood I was taught the importance of saving! My parents came from humble beginnings, this is all they knew about personal finance!
So I saved a decent %, but I had no idea about investing. The money was just sitting in savings ac / deposits for years
2. LIFE INSURANCE: I believed Life Insurance is a lucrative form of investment. An entire generation has grown up thinking this is right... many still do.

I always admired Rafa for his achievements, his never-say-die attitude and his success in the RF era.
But my personal experience of working with him made me respect him for his character & personal traits. Honestly I was mind-blown!
It was in December 2015 that I got the opportunity to work with him.
I often refer back to that time for some basic but powerful lessons.
Here they are:
