The PA Supreme Court freed Cosby because they found that the commonwealth of PA had pledged to not prosecute him, thus removing his 5th amendment right to refuse to testify, thus taking away immunity from being deposed in the civil case.
He was NOT found innocent. ... 1/
2/ In fact, per the court, "During those (civil) depositions, Cosby made several incriminating statements....Notably, during his depositions, Cosby confessed that, in the past, he had provided Quaaludes...to other women with whom he wanted to have sexual intercourse."...
3/ The court describes a 1982 incident with Reno casino employee Janice Baker-Kinney, 24. Cosby gave her 2 pills "after which she became dizzy and passed out. When she awakened, she was on a couch in another room. Her shirt was unbuttoned and her pants were unzipped....
4/ "...Still intoxicated, Baker-Kinney followed Cosby to an upstairs bedroom. She had no memory of what happened after entering the bedroom until the following morning, when she woke up naked next to Cosby, who also was naked."
5/ That same year the court describes Janice Dickinson, 27. "Dickinson was an aspiring model, and Cosby contacted her modeling agency to arrange a meeting. Supposedly, Cosby wanted to mentor Dickinson." They had dinner in Lake Tahoe where she met with Cosby’s musical director.
6/ Over dinner with Cosby, Dickinson mentioned she had menstrual cramps, so "Cosby provided her with a pill to help relieve the discomfort." Later in Cosby's hotel room, Dickinson "felt lightheaded and had trouble speaking."
7/ "Dickinson stated that she was unable to move and that she passed out soon after Cosby had finished. When she woke up the next morning, she did not recall how she had arrived at Cosby’s room. She was naked from the waist down, had semen on her legs, and felt pain in her anus."
8/ The court described a total of five such women who had been permitted to testify, but of course there were dozens who shared allegations about his alleged behavior.
The astounding thing about this is that all this veteran was trying to do is share a bit of historical fact. A May 1865 New York Tribune story records recently emancipated slaves honoring Union soldiers who had died in an open air makeshift Charleston prison.
