(1/6) Short thread on how the #DeltaVariant arrival at this time of year could actually be a positive. Crazy I know but hear me out. Yes it's more transmissible but from the evidnece of our nearest neighbours it's actually far less lethal than previous strains
(2/6)Variants that spread easier are usually milder and that seems to be the case. The CFR in UK is 10x less than alpha
The UK almost entirely Delta since late April but deaths/hospitalisations are still low.
Also look at Scotlands case increase and look at its death increase.
(3/6) It will come in a wave like everywhere else see India below. Remember the Delta Variant is the Indian Variant. So it will rise and fall like everywhere.
Also India was never the horror show the media told you about see death comparison to our own. We fared much worse
(4/6) It's the middle of summer so hospitals are relatively empty, the vulnerable aren't sick from a multitude of illnesses and there's little risk of hospitals being overrun.
Also nursing homes were 60% of deaths and their all fully vaccinated
(5/6) If it is as mild and virulent as they say then it will natural provide natural immunity for a large number of people with a much lower risk of serious illness or hospitalizations than all previous strains.
6/6 If you plan on saying "One death is too many" you're a moron firstly as there is no stopping it. It's here no matter what we do.
Secondly isn't a strain that is allegedly many times less lethal becoming the dominant strain of covid a good thing?

(1/8)Must read thread on vaccine passports with sources. Vaccine passports are being touted as a solution to this pandemic by many sources and some countries have even introduced them.
(2/8)Covid Vaccines have not been proven to stop you spreading the disease. They stop you alone getting sick. It makes no difference to other people or transmission so why would you force it?
(3/8) The vaccine itself only has a confirmed effectiveness of 4 months so far. So if vaccine passports are a thing then it's not just "one injection" it will be multiple injections multiple times a year that you civil liberties will be contingent upon.
