During adolescence, a friend of mine was bitten on the lip by a dog.
Naturally, this shook her & she subsequently developed a genuine fear of dogs, which she still has today. When she tells people, they are understanding, sympathetic & acknowledge the trauma she experienced
My friend obviously knows that not all dogs are dangerous/aggressive but due to her experience, she fears them *all* even mine. I completely understand why she feels this way, so I’m not ‘offended’ that she dislikes them, & don’t take it personally.
Despite the fact that I know my dogs are perfectly friendly, I take steps to ensure she feels safe - I always make sure they are in another room if she visits.
