Stan Swamy is dead. Sudha Bhardwaj is still in jail. She has been there since August 2018. A lady who gave up American citizenship to fight for the rights on the underdog. A labour activist who dedicated her life to helping others and stood against the powerful to do so.

When she was arrested she was getting ready to teach a course at NLU Delhi. After her arrest she was honoured by Harvard. Even if you don’t agree with what she fights for, you must agree that our democracy is richer due to people like her. People that stand for principles.

This is hardly someone who can be described as a terrorist. She fought openly for what she believed i.e. she did what a citizen with a point of view in a democracy is supposed to do. Opposing the actions of a Govt. is not a crime.

Standing for the rights of Dalits is not a crime. Standing up against the exploitation of Adivasis is not a crime. Being opposed to capitalism is not a crime. Teaching people to think is not a crime. Protest is not a crime.

On the other handing, standing silently by while the mechanism of the State is used to crush someone like Sudha Bhardwaj should be a crime. Agree or disagree with her views, you must defend her right to air. Democracy can die only if we stand idly by and watch it happen.

If you are upset by the death of #StanSwamy, stand up and raise your voice. Raise your voice till the powers that be hear it. Raise your voice against a law like UAPA that is prone to misuse & has an abysmal conviction rate. Raise your voice till Justice is done.
6/n
Raise your voice & say #FreeSudhaBhardwaj. Shout till the #FreeBhimaKoregaonAccused. Scream till UAPA is changed to prevent misuse & those abusing it are punished. Demand the State recognise all anti ruling party actions are not terrorism. Fight till you make a difference.
7/n
Then and only then will you be able to say #RIPStanSwamy with a straight face.
Nothing can honour a warrior more than to ensure that his war is won and his sacrifice is given meaning.
Update: @ndtv@SreenivasanJain report forensics found planted documents in the Bhima Koregaon case.
Forensic agency says it is the 'most serious case of evidence tampering' they have seen.
'Documents to be delivered over months and years is not something we have ever heard of'.
I did pro bono work for two private hospitals in Delhi during the worst of the Second Wave. My sole task was helping the hospitals negotiate with the DHC supervised government mechanism for more oxygen. The fact was these hospitals got less Oxygen than needed. #OxygenAudit
1/n
The government officers, lawyers & amicus were exceedingly helpful but the fact was that there was not enough oxygen to go around. Everyday we were left scrambling for the next shipment of oxygen and thankfully for these hospitals it normally arrived in the nick of time.
2/n
Everyday, we would ask for more oxygen to be alloted and would have to wait till the Delhi Government was just informed what the expected supply for the NCT was for the day. Depending on how much oxygen Delhi got a chart for the division among major hospitals was prepared.
