[New movie] Rebel Moon (Netflix)

Zack Snyder will direct, co-write (with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, 300) and produce an epic sci-fi fantasy where a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. #TSSN

Desperate people dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand.

Zack Snyder: “This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan. It’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure."

"My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out.”
So Say Every Streaming Giant.

“I’ve been working on this on the side for so long, it’s pretty far along.”
The hope is to begin production in early 2022.

Now those who follow me must be like "hey but he proposed to do a Star Wars in 2013". Yes, he had proposed to do a Star Wars in 2013. And it is this idea that will be recycled into a new IP.

"It was a more mature take (...) and didn’t move beyond any meaningful conversations". Image
"Rebel finds the germs of its origins in a Star Wars pitch the filmmaker had developed a decade ago. He began reworking the idea with Johnstad and really dove in at the same time as he began making Army of the Dead, bringing in that movie’s co-scribe, Shay Hatten." Image
His SW project was rumored for a decade, before being confirmed last month.
"At that time, there was no Star Wars. (...) It was right after they had done the prequels and before the sale [to Disney]. I just was like, 'You know what? I could fix that.'"

Now, back to 2013:
"He is in fact developing an as-yet-untitled Jedi epic loosely based on Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic Seven Samurai, with the ronin and katana being replaced by the Force-wielding knights and their iconic lightsaber."

Well, no. But...

vulture.com/2013/01/zack-s…
Back to June 2021:
"I've been working on it, just away from the Star Wars universe, just on my own, just as a sci-fi thing... It's still a sci-fi thing, it's the same story, now I'm letting Star Wars be Star Wars."

And Rebel Moon be Rebel Moon. Wait, no, not the 1995 game. Image
Or the book about the game.
I'm sure they know what they do.

What matters is that it will give me plenty of upcoming tweets. A new movie, maybe a new IP, it's always a good news. Image
What matters is that I have now 2 years to research Zack Snyder's ship design choices.

That's funny because it's exactly what I did this past week, working on the Snyderverse ships. It's fate.

(maybe because General Z*d is a d*ck?) Image
Yes, yes, Seven Samurai in space, Battle Beyond The Stars. But it's different, it's Zack Snyder. I'm not a big fan but it will be its own movie, for sure.

The only thing that matters is making Nell appear. Image

What If...? is the MCU series I have been waiting for the most with Loki. Technically, it counts as much as the others within a huge potential multiverse. And not just because What If...? is at the origin of all fiction.

Aliens Colonial Marines (2013): Heavy-Lift Dropship, art by @lwoodesign

Lorin Wood: "We pretty much stuck like glue to [James] Cameron’s original influences that he drew from, so visually it felt a little more authentic to the [Aliens, 1986] film".

@lwoodesign "Stick close to the real world and advance it from that foundation. The giant cargo/drop ship was designed to live in the same family as the movie ship."

Design ideation by Lorin Wood:
@lwoodesign Lorin Wood: "I drew inspiration from the giant Sikorsky Sea Dragon helicopters and then scaled that monster up to the size of a small jumbo jet so it could carry its large cargo."

Let's play Monobot (2021) by @Ukuza_games & @DreamSmithStud1

This is a "2D physics-based puzzle platformer set in a hostile world set in a dark, distant future." Now available on Steam.

And my first impressions are good. ImageImageImage
@Ukuza_games @DreamSmithStud1 It's like Limbo and Inside but with more puzzles, on a deserted planet.

You wake up, and you don't why. There are some evil robots coming after you, and you don't know why. ImageImageImage
@Ukuza_games @DreamSmithStud1 The game is pretty and the atmosphere is as much twilight as it is mysterious. ImageImageImageImage

[Thread] Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction by @propstore_com (June 29th - July 1st 2021)

Among the 1,300 lots of original props, there is a lot of space fiction. From Star Wars to BSG and Trek, please come to see what I'm installing in The Spaceshipper Headcanon Museum. 🖖
I'll start with my favorite lot, and this fantastic V'Ger model from Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979).

I've never seen it before.
We stay with TMP. Who doesn't need a "Space suit prep squence"?

It may be a coincidence, and you SHOULDN'T take it for information, but I noticed during my research that there was activity around Star Wars Underworld (the live-action series supervised by Lucas, 50 scripts written, including by Ron Moore, canceled in 2010) in 2018. BUT...

1/2
BUT I'm just thinking that the idea of recycling scripts and preproduction work must have been considered when they chose the Disney + series announced last December.
Or it's just people who got the date wrong, and that's pure coincidence.

In any case, no big deal.

But it's always an opportunity to share old artworks by Erik Tiemens, Ryan Church and Kurt Kaufman.

And to hope, claim for an "Art of Underworld/1313" book that would sell like toys in 1977.

Considering the usual deadlines, the Lucasfilm Design Team must be currently working on Rogue Squadron (Dec 2023), after having completed its work on Andor, Kenobi, Mando S3, etc.

We can imagine all the artworks of space battles & ships that I will share ... in three years. XD
BTW It's going to be difficult to release a new Rogue Squadron game at the same time if development hasn't already started in a studio somewhere.

Pew pew
By that I mean it seems inconceivable to me that they won't release a Rogue Squadron game along with a Rogue Squadron movie, so I wonder who is working on this hypothetical game right now. (Note: this could obviously be Motive, of which Squadrons were very successful)
