Being an immunologist the last 18 months has been a nightmare and just, just, when I thought that maybe just the UK wasn't going to fuck up the vaccine programme they've decided we're going to ruin it's good work by letting the delta variant rip through before its complete.

Only 50% of the UK is FULLY vaccinated. Stop pretending almost every adult is vaccinated they are NOT. Certainly we do not have enough fully vaccinated adults to allow lifting of all restrictions like this.

There are a number of vulnerable people who will not have developed the strong immunology (mostly severely immunocomped people with cancers etc) and NEED the protection of everyone being fully vaxxed to keep them safe and we decided. "Fuck you we're over it, stay inside." Evil.

No to mention, children under 18 can and DO get Long Covid. Without protection of a vaccine you are running the risk of disabling children for years and years of their lives. Which you will inevitably wrote off as them being lazy and further tramatise them.

LEts not start with the fact that letting a virus rip through a population where 40% of adults are partially vaccinated is EXACTLY how I would structure an experiment to evolve a strain that leads to complete immune evasion.

I need a 12 hour television series to explain the reasons how and why this is a fucking evil unscientific and disastrous choice.

But naw, still gonna get roasters who will argue to the cows come home about how its gonna be fine.

IT wont be.

And the worst part is, people are GETTING vaccinated in the UK, including large number of under 30s.

The UK is simply unwilling to wait the extra 8-10 weeks to allow the vaccine programme to properly complete and give them full protection and take us over herd immunity number.
