A big part of the problem with Yemen is that the photos of starving kids are too often captioned with "Ohh, look how sad" instead of "Your government is doing this on purpose."

The solution is to do nothing. Literally just stop doing things. This problem is caused by western interventionism, not by a lack of it. This war would've ended years ago without the US and its allies actively intervening to keep it continuing.

The next anti-imperialist voice to rise to a position of prominence will with absolute certainty be the subject of many news reports informing us that that person is problematic for some reason, be it antisemitism or Kremlin loyalty or something else. But they will find a reason.
Try to think of an influential voice who consistently opposes western imperialism but hasn't been smeared as an antisemite, a Kremlin asset, a closet right-winger or a kook at some point. Such figures simply are not permitted to emerge without being viciously smeared anymore.
If western leftists ever want to be more than a glorified group chat, we need to stop letting this happen. We need to stop letting them use the fact that we care about things and have principles to concern troll every important movement into division and impotence.

Wait, so Tucker Carlson said the NSA is spying on him, and everyone including the NSA said he was crazy, but it turned out it was completely true, but that's fine because Carlson was trying to set up an interview with a foreign official the US doesn't like? Do I have that right?

The Empire Depends On Psychological Compartmentalization

We're kept from really seeing evils like Yemen, Iraq, ecocide and Assange's persecution due to a mental tendency to hide away information which conflicts with our propaganda-manufactured worldviews.

Britain's High Court has granted the US government limited permission to appeal its extradition case against Assange, meaning that the acclaimed journalist will continue to languish in prison for exposing US war crimes while the appeals process plays out.
If the western media were what it purports to be, every member of the public will be acutely aware of the fact that a journalist is being imprisoned by the most powerful government on earth for exposing inconvenient facts about its war machine.

The absolute gall it takes for Cenk to utter these words after his outlet falsely claimed that @aaronjmate is a secret agent for dictators and paid by the Russians, then refusing to retract or apologize *to this day*, is breathtaking.
Cenk Uygur is now trying to make "alt-left" happen.
Cenk ridiculously claims "We didn't start this!" when the entire ordeal is the result of his and Ana's demented McCarthyite smear job on Aaron.

Imagine if all the people yelling that it's time to move on from TYT smearing @aaronjmate as a secret agent of foreign dictators had from the very beginning just spent all that energy telling Cenk and Ana they need to retract and apologize for a disgusting and unacceptable act.
If left indie media had simply united along the very simple and obvious "No we don't accuse leftist antiwar journalists of being secret agents for foreign governments", this would have resolved very quickly and wouldn't have gotten anywhere near as vicious as it did.
You mean Dore continues to point at something that has never at any time been retracted or apologized for, instead of sweeping it under the carpet and pretending it never happened like a codependent wife of a child molester.

Leftists argue all day on this site about what the left should be, how it should act, who should be part of it, etc. When really we're too small to actually accomplish anything, and if that ever changes we'll all be insignificant specks in whatever big event leads to that change.
It's like we're all here going "Okay gang, here's what the left needs to do:", and if anything actually does happen and there is significant leftward movement it's going to be like a tidal wave blasting over a bunch of kids playing with sand castles on the beach. We're the kids.
Doesn't mean we shouldn't act and shouldn't keep pushing for change, it just means that if the revolution finally does arrive it will do so via forces which have nothing to do with any of us. It won't move according to our rules or our plans. We won't have any control over it.
