[Thread] My new @MintPressNews long form article on why the lab leak has gone viral in independent/alternative media, despite the lack of evidence supporting it.

mintpressnews.com/why-liberals-s…
In recent weeks, alt media stars like @TYT, @ggreenwald, @mtaibbi, @jimmy_dore, @thomasfrank_, and @krystalball have promoted the theory.

This is not an attack on them. Rather, I hope they read this and reconsider their positions.
Much of the new wave of pro-lab leak thought is based on the work of Nicholas Wade, a disgraced racist pseudoscientist who thinks black people are poorer because they're genetically more violent and lazy. Wade's theories on Jews have earned plaudits from the KKK and David Duke. Image
Also playing a big role is a new @WSJ article by Michael Gordon, who claims anon. US intel told him that staff at the Wuhan lab got ill in Nov. 2019.

But this is the same Michael Gordon who's 2002 NYT piece (based on US intel) linking Saddam with WMDs led us to war in Iraq! Image
As @RealAlexRubi wrote, the lab leak theory is being pushed by neocon frauds who love war.

mintpressnews.com/wuhan-lab-leak…
If you are watching the MSM (or even alt media), you might get the impression the lab leak is a majority opinion among experts.

In fact, the opposite is true. It's still considered a niche possibility, at best, and many scientists are more convinced than ever in a natural origin
Why then, is the lab leak theory being pushed by Democrats and corporate media? In a word: China.

The US and its allies are exploring ways to halt China's rise and even push for regime change there (see article).

mintpressnews.com/atlantic-counc…
In the past 18 months, the US has been building up its military force in the South China Sea, its ships and planes probing the Chinese coast to test their defenses.

Last summer, a US warship sailed to within 41 miles of Shanghai.

mintpressnews.com/us-military-wa…
The 180° turn the media has done on lab leak is not some big fail. It is much worse than that. It's a cynical Democrat push for a second Cold War.

Alt media stars who don't see this and join in the pro lab leak chorus are getting conned into supporting WMD 2.0.
The real "media fail" we should be talking about re:COVID is that they're suddenly embracing the lab leak theory despite no new evidence, as @JoshC0301 explains in @FAIRmediawatch

Most people don't read past the headline to know that it was 618 workers out of 677,348 who received the vaccine. Or 0.09%.

The only conclusion is @Reuters is deliberately publishing anti-vax propaganda against the Chinese vaccine.

Unreal levels of irresponsibility. Image
Reuters has been cynically pumping out anti (Chinese) vax stuff for months.

Read the headline. Think what it implies. Then read the passage below it from half way through the article. Image
The @nytimes is also in on the action.

If you read the article, you'll know the Brazilian guy in question committed suicide.

So in what world is this in any way newsworthy?

Only if it can be used to pump up fears against China and its vaccine. Image

The US government is funding NGOs in Venezuela that are urging people not to get the Cuban vaccine - the only one that is available.

Unreal levels of savagery. 🇺🇸🇻🇪
There isn't even one word the the story about the WHO, yet Bloomberg puts them in the headline to make it seem like it it's the Cuban and Venezuelan government who are the anti-science ones. Pathetic.
Also, as @v_zilber points out, "homemade vaccines" makes them sound like the medical equivalent of moonshine, adding to the scaremongering.

[Thread] Saagar Enjeti presents himself as a pro-worker, conservative populist. But his history suggests otherwise.

My new @MintPressNews investigation.

mintpressnews.com/saagar-enjeti-…
2. Enjeti studied security studies at Georgetown and counter-terrorism at an IDF-linked Israeli university where Mossad spies are trained.
3. He then went to work for the neocon think tank, the Institite for the Study of War, founded by the Kagan dynasty, the intellectual driving force behind the Iraq War. How he can square that with being an anti-war outsider I just don't know.

[Thread] My new @MintPressNews report into how the CIA fueled a massive opium addiction crisis in Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan.

mintpressnews.com/cia-afghanista…
When the USSR invaded Afghanistan, the CIA pumped billions into the Mujahideen, allowing them to take control over global heroin production to fund their war. Production went from 100 tons per year to over 2,000 by 1990.
After the Taliban came to power, they actually almost totally eradicated opium production. But then the US invasion happened, and opium production exploded:

[Thread] The Washington Post presents itself as an adversarial newspaper.

But it consistently defends the interests of the wealthy and powerful (including its owner Jeff Bezos).

My new @MintPressNews piece:

mintpressnews.com/jeff-bezos-at-…
The Post's editorial board has consistently taken strongly conservative, elitist positions on virtually every major issue, including some of these all-time hot takes:
Unsurprisingly, the newspaper owned by the world's richest man has consistently opposed taxing the rich. I'm sure that's just a coincidence though.
