funding students instead of systems, such a "radical" idea 😱👻
why would giving families a choice be "the death of" government schools?🤔
what's radical is compelling families to spend their children's education dollars at residentially assigned government-run schools

it's happening. Image
"This will be the legacy of the coronavirus on the American education system."
"It was finally made clear to a critical mass of legislators that families need options, and the one-size-fits-all nature of the contemporary public education system is not fit for purpose in an uncertain and changing world."

The U.S. House Appropriations Committee expects the Administration to get rid of the program to fund students instead of systems in Washington D.C.
95% of the children using the program are Black or Hispanic

Average household income was $26,440 in the 2019-20 school year Image
DC public schools spend over $30,000 per student each year

Families using the program only receive about a third of their children's education dollars ($10,095)

More of that funding should follow the child, not less

We should fund students, not systems.

They also approved a $56k measure to conduct opposition research on CRT opponents

But they failed to pass this measure to "make student learning the priority of the Association" in 2019
DEFEATED:

"The [NEA] will re-dedicate itself to the pursuit of increased student learning in every public school in America by putting a renewed emphasis on quality education. NEA will make student learning the priority of the Association."
