This England team aren’t playing for the Tories’ version of the country | Andrew Rawnsley | The Guardian
theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
Many other Tories who have previously been furious opponents of “bringing politics into football” have been photobombing social media with snaps of themselves in hastily purchased England kit.
“ In her desperation to scramble aboard the bandwagon, Priti Patel neglected to have the package creasing ironed out before she stuck on the shirt, while Rishi Sunak forgot to snip off the sales tags. “

Israel 🇮🇱

Does anyone have an update on how many symptomatic hospitalised, how many in ICU/ dead

In a highly vaccinated population one would expect infections to be in the vaccinated, but (see younger age groups) I wasn’t expecting it to track quite that closely
I looked at the Israeli Gov dashboard but when I clicked on surveillance reports or weekly data it came up blank.

I think there’s richer data in the Hebrew section

Israel had been advising that fully vaccinated people did not need testing unless symptomatic.

Has that changed?
Link to the English version of the dashboard.

It maybe that breakthrough infection is asymptomatic or very mild, altho’ some were reported as severe last week, but fewer than unvaccinated.

Record number of children admitted to Scots hospitals

@jneill⁩ ⁦@dgurdasani1⁩ ⁦@chrischirp

“PH Scotland, 26 youngsters < 10, & 16 aged 10-19, were brought into acute medical care in the w/e June 29 = 42
(23 just a few weeks earlier.) thenational.scot/news/19429535.…
Child hospital admissions rising faster in England this wave than in Wave2. See the bright yellow line? That is this wave.

H/T @jneill
This is hardly surprising when there appear to be active measure to encourage children to mix and, in England anyway, having actively removed NPI measures designed to reduce infection.

So cases go up. Hospitalisations go up.

I have a question of @BBCShaunLey

In YOUR VIEW what does herd immunity look like when, as a matter of hard fact, we only have 51% of citizens (say 53% by 18-7-21) fully vaccinated and all restrictions are lifted and children are unprotected?

Infection above 35k today
Are you trying to say the Gov does not know what you and I know? Especially when they have quite literally spelt out the consequences @BBCShaunLey
To whom do you think @DrMikeRyan was directing his comments of moral emptiness and epidemiological stupidity in the context of “nations with advanced vaccination programmes”? Please be specific. If not us then who?

@BBCShaunLey ?

For example, last week (PHE report: Week 26, 28/6 - 4/7) there were no "situations/incidents" in hospitals, educational settings, prisons, workplaces or food outlets. Not one. And yet there were 16,607 cases in the NE that week.

Quite something that the PHE does not know WHERE.
The week before that (PHE report :Week 25, 21-27 June) there were 9,346 cases in the NE. And how many "situations/incidents" were there in hospitals, educational settings, prisons, or food outlets? None. There was a single workplace outbreak

Quite something⁉️

Pull the other one
I mean. No school incidents?

Come on. 2410 cases JUST in the 10-14 yr old age group in wk 24-25.

1433 per 100k in SOUTH TYNESIDE⁉️😳

Are they just wandering around in Tyneside air breathing it in?

Calling Tynesiders.

Are they trying to take you for fools?

We don’t make a lot of ice cream in our homes so I am often struck how I blend a basic recipe with a bit of adventure.

Today it is passion fruit. Not a lot in the way of recipes that match what I have got, so I am experimenting.

Part just knowing and part chemistry.

🤞
What started it? I had some cream that needed using up.

And a couple of passion fruit. Not nearly enough for ice cream

OH! An a can of passion fruit pulp I spotted in Lidl a couple of weeks back.

Half a lemon. 1 lime if nec

4 eggs (5 would have been better)

Milk, sugar.
This one needs to be a custard base.

So a BIT more laborious. But I have a heavy saucepan and an induction hob so can really control the heat.

So I just set the heat at 2 max and the timer for 4 min intervals for a good stir until close to done.
