No football, but something even more exciting tonight... Image
“Who else but Bruno Dumont to take us on a musical journey thru the religious awakening of Joan of Arc? Developing his own style of electro-rock opera, the French auteur delivers a cinematic feast that, in its stylistic exuberance, forges a unique path to spiritual profundity.”
It’s certainly the best French rock opera about a 15th century saint that I’ve seen, & I don’t mind saying it. Image
It’s the kind of film that someone in Call My Agent might be offered a part in

In aid of my benefit year I will be playing one match in the morning, one in the afternoon. For those not familiar with cricket, this is like playing extra time in a Euros final, ONLY TOUGHER.

So if you’re impressed, please please do donate!

Thank you!
It’s not called the Honourable Artillery Company for nothing. Absolutely amazing there’s a cricket ground in the heart of the City! ImageImage
At the Honourable Artillery Ground, where once London’s archers honed their skills, @Rathbones1742 have made 122 off their 20 overs. In the first of the two matches I am playing today, I bowl 4 tight overs, showcasing my control of swing and cut. Image

I don't know anything about cycling, but should do, because my great-uncle was the first Englishman to compete in the Tour de France. He was seen off from Paris by Josephine Baker!
He also played cricket for a team that included someone who played for Aston Villa - so a great inspiration.
It's no wonder I'm so good at sport.

With particular thanks to my daughter, Eliza, & her friend, Anna, for their expert opinion on how Henry VIII’s six wives would have done as #LoveIsland contestants

Some weekend listening for your pleasure. (We did an insane number of podcasts this week, so apologies should you not have a spare 4 hours.)

First up - history books for children.
Second up - a preview of England's semi-final against Denmark.
Third up - the Vietnam War.

(If you listen to only one of these episodes, I strongly recommend this one. I found it revelatory.)
