As salaam u alaykum and Good morning.

I write this message as a Muslim, Indian, South African citizen.

The events of the past few days are really disheartening and disturbing.

These are scenes reminiscent of war, something our country has abhorred and distanced itself from.

Destruction and desecration of property and the occurances of death and injury can never be condoned to forward a cause in the name of 'justice'

Any person who's family or possessions are attacked, will naturally do everything in his/her control to protect and preserve the same.

We should never forget our horrendous past.. The racist and suptemist apartheid regime. They used race and ethnicity as a tool to divide us and create enmity. This is not a new tactic, this was the way of every oppressor in history. *DIVIDE AND RULE*

We should never turn this into a race issue, our enemy is never a colour or a language or a place of residence. We ALL have a common enemy, and that is *CRIME AND OPPRESSION*

Racism isn't condoned in the Noble Qur'aan at all. Racism is scorned and looked down upon and is a sin.

The Qur'aan describes race as a manifestation of Almighty ALLAAH'S (Arabic term for sole worthy of worship) power and sign of HIS Magnanimity.

A translation of Verses from the Qur'aan:

"O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and divided you into (different) nations and tribes, so that you may recognise one another.... "
Chapter 49, Verse 13

Another great benefit mentioned above, of the different races, is easy recognition of each other.

If everyone looked the same how would the world be?

" And among His (ALLAAH'S) Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the difference of your languages and colours (races). Verily, in that are indeed signs for men of sound knowledge.

Chapter 30, Verse 22

And lastly, I present to you the words of the Messenger of ALLAAH Muhammad (PBUH), in his final sermon:

"All mankind is from Adam(PBUH) and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab;.."

*also a white person has no superiority over a black person nor a black person has any superiority over a white person*, except by piety and good action."

The principles of Non-Racialism, tolerance, peace and harmony are strongly rooted in the religion of Islam for 1400 years

Many great leaders and Scholars of the Muslim community over the years were of African descent, and we revere and respect them

Let's not turn the protection of our families and properties, into a racism issue, through propaganda and false rhetoric, by the forces who wish to further divide us!

The right to self-defence, within reasonable means is well enshrined in our constitution and is purely human instinct! In the same breath, we decry the brutal, merciless killing of our religious leader, Moulana Hamza, in Chatsworth last night.

, while standing guard outside his home. May he be granted the highest of places in Jannah (paradise) and may the bereaved find ease and patience.

Let us all stand together against crime, looting, racism, propoganada and the incitememt of violence!
