1. July 15 is the most significant FEC deadline since the 1/6 insurrection
We'll learn which corporations are keeping their promises & which are hoping people have stopped paying attention
The data is already coming in & I'll be tracking it on this thread

On 6/30, Bloomin' Brands donated 5K to Congressman @ByronDonalds, who voted to overturn the election.
3. After 1/6, @Cheniere said it was "disturbed and disheartened" and would suspend its political giving to make sure that future donations reflect the company's "values."
On 6/30, Cheniere donated 1K to @RepMikeJohnson, who voted to overturn the election
4. After 1/6, @GM said it was suspending its political giving and future donations would reflect "public integrity criteria"
On 6/4, @GM donated 1K to @SenLummis, who voted to overturn the election
5. In June, GlaxoSmithKline (@GSK) donated to at least 3 Republican objectors:

23. After 1/6, @DukeEnergy said it was "shocked and dismayed by the events at the Capitol" and was suspending donations because it was "taking this very seriously"
In June, Duke Energy sent big donations to 3 GOP objectors:
William Timmons (10K)
Tom Rice (10K)
Jeff Duncan (5K)
24. After 1/6, @Ford said it was reevaluating its political donation criteria in light of events that "contradict the ideals of a free and fair election and a peaceful transition of power"
On 6/30, Ford donated 2.5K to Tom Rice, who voted to overturn the election
25. Overall, since 1/6, @Ford had donated to 8 GOP objectors plus 15K each to the @NRSC and @NRCC
26. SOME QUICK PERSPECTIVE
Most of the direct donations to the 147 GOP objectors come from companies that either suspended all political giving or said they were reviewing criteria
Dozens of major corps explicitly promised to cut off the 147 and they've held the line
27. Some of the corporations that promised to cut off the 147 have donated to multi-candidate PACs (like the @NRCC) that support objectors.
This violates the spirit, if not the letter, of their commitment
28. @LockheedMartin has donated to dozens of GOP objectors since 1/6.
As Will notes here, they even donated to Congressman Andren Clyde, who likened the people who attacked the Capitol to "tourists."
29. Another @Toyota donations to a Republican objector, this one dated 6/30 to Robert Aderholt (R-AL)
On 7/7 Toyota announced they would stop donating to GOP objectors.
That was AFTER they donated to 40+ objectors
No indication they are asking for their $ back
29. In June, @AnheuserBusch (2.5K), @LockheedMartin (1K), and @Highmark (1K) all donated to Congressman Glenn Thompson (R-PA), who voted to overturn the election
30. After 1/6, @GM said it was suspending its political giving and future donations would reflect "public integrity criteria"
On 6/30, @GM donated 5K to Bill Johnson (R-OH), who voted to overturn the election
31. After 1/6, @AmericanAir suspended all of its political donations.
On 6/7, American Air donated $2,500 to Congressman Sam Graves, who voted to overturn the election
34. In June, @aflac (2.5K), @AnheuserBusch (2.5K), and @askRegions (2K) all donated to Congressman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), who voted to overturn the election.
35. On May 17, @UPS donated 5K to Buddy Carter (R-GA) who voted to overturn the election.
36. After 1/6, @SouthernCompany said it would stop supporting officials who don’t act “in a manner consistent” with “honesty, respect, fairness, integrity, and the value of diversity.”
On 6/7, @SouthernCompany donated 2.5K to Buddy Carter, who voted to overturn the election
37. Other corporate donors to Buddy Carter in the last three months include:
@UPS@NetJets@LockheedMartin@Toyota 41. @SenRickScott, who voted to overturn the election and later flew down to Mar-a-lago and presented Trump with a fake award reported no corporate PAC contributions in the Second Quarter
42. Slightly off topic but hedge fund billionaire Kenneth Griffin donated $266,300.00 to the Rick Scott Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee of @SenRickScott and the @NRSC
45. After 1/6, @Delta said it would review its contribution criteria
On 6/30, @Delta donated 2.5K to Jackie Walorski (R-IN), who voted to overturn the election.
46. After 1/6, @Ford said it was reevaluating its political donation criteria in light of events that "contradict the ideals of a free and fair election and a peaceful transition of power"
On 5/7 @Ford donated 2.5K to @kevinomccarthy, who voted to overturn the election results
47. In Q2, @generaldynamics donated 45.5K to 21 Republicans who voted to overturn the election
@generaldynamics 48. On June 30, @HRBlock donated 2.5K to Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO), who voted to overturn the election.
Luetkemeyer reportedly threatened to retaliate against corporations who stopped donating to him as a result of his 1/6 vote
49. After 1/6, @Truist said it was "carefully reviewing our political engagement practices to assure that Truist supports candidates who exclusively advance unity and democracy."
On 6/1, Truist donated 5K to to Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO), who voted to overturn the election.
50. Here's an article I wrote about Luetkemeyer's threats to companies that stop donating to him
In 2020, Luetkemeyer raised $1,589,845 from corporate PACs (78.8% of total funds) and just $16,287.05 from individuals donating $200 or less
55. On 6/30, @HRBlock donated $2,500 to Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS), who voted to overturn the election
56. In Q2, @netjets donated $10,500 to 4 Republican objectors: Van Drew, Berman, Graves, and Nehls
57. One thing that is notable is that dozens of corporations pledged not to give specifically to the 147 Republicans who voted to overturn the election -- including Amazon, Walmart, AT&T, and Nike.
All of those companies have kept their promises.
58. The companies that have resumed donating to the 147 are companies that, after 1/6, suspended all PAC contributions, said they were reviewing their criteria or said nothing at all.
59. Some of the companies that pledged not to donate to the 147 Republican objectors (like AT&T and Walmart) have donated to multi-candidate PACs that, in turn, support the Republican objectors.
This violates the spirit, if not the letter, of the pledge
60. Still, it is having an impact. The @WSJ reports: "Nearly 100 of the members who voted against certifying the election results & had comparable 2019 data reported receiving less money from corporate PACs...in the first half of the year compared with the first half of 2019"
61. This thread doesn't cover every donation to Republican objectors in the second quarter but I endeavored to give you some insight as to what's happening.
Some companies that had relatively weak initial responses to 1/6 are resuming. Many are not.
62. If you enjoyed this thread, I'm guessing you will also enjoy my newsletter.
It includes this kind of independent accountability journalism
2. This Daily Wire article is aggregated from The Federalist.
The Federalist article concerns a meeting of the County Board of Supervisors.
So, right off the bat, what occurred at this meeting was not a lesson being presented to children.
3. Critical Race Theory was never mentioned at the meeting but: "Byerly also noted a recently mandated African American history class would be a positive addition to county schools."
So the problem is they are discussing teaching history in school
1. Hervis Rogers waited 6 hours to vote in March 2020 and now faces decades in prison.
He is a case study in how the criminal justice system is abused to promote political narratives, undermine fundamental rights, and target minority groups.
BREAKING: @Toyota reverses course, will STOP donating to members of Congress who voted to overturn the election
The company faced a backlash after it donated 62K to 39 Republican objectors
@ToyotaPopular.info first reported on @Toyota's donations in APRIL. At the time, Toyota said that it did "not believe it is appropriate to judge members of Congress solely based on their votes on election certification."
