7 ways to earn money as UI/UX designer 💰

🧵Thread
1⃣ Consulting

An example of consulting is doing UI/UX reviews as I do.

You can help solo founders who are starting their own products.

You can as well provide consulting for big companies as a part-time job too.
2⃣ Teach UI Design

🔸You can sell your courses on @udemy or @skillshare or any other similar platform.

🔸You can sell your courses or books on @gumroad.

Take a look at @steveschoger and @adamwathan. Their book brought them more than a million dollars, afaik.
3⃣ Sell Your Design

You can sell

- Vectors
- Illustrations
- Logos (take a look at @fabianarbor)
- UI kits
- Templates

There are dozens of different marketplaces. The biggest and most well-known is @envato.
4⃣ Freelance

This is one of the quickest ways to get some cash. The more reviews you have, the higher the hourly rate you can set.

Freelance platform to consider:

@Upwork
@toptal
@freelancer
@PeoplePerHour
@freeupmarket
5⃣ Affiliate Marketing

You can promote other products via affiliate links.

For this purpose, you need some social ground, e.g. Twitter or YouTube, or any other traffic source.

This might be a powerful income source since it doesn't have any limitations.
6⃣ Your Own Blog or Website

Your own blog/webiste is a source of traffic.

By having this, you can do everything mentioned above: selling courses, doing affiliate marketing, selling your design, provide consulting.

Checkout @ness_labs for example
7⃣ YouTube Channel

It takes time, but if you get enough subscribers you'll have many opportunities.

Everything mentioned above becomes way easier:

- Consulting
- Selling courses/books
- Affiliate marketing

Plus youtube ads and sponsorship/patreon can give you some income.
Eventually, you may end up with your own design agency. But this is another level of difficulty.

That's it.

If you find it useful, I'd appreciate like/retweet ☺️
Technically you can do all of them in one day 🤔

1. Tweet that you provide UI/UX consulting
2. Write a small copy of UI/UX tips and post it on gumroad
3. Draw a simple logo and post it on envato
4. Make a profile on upwork
5. Post an affiliate link in Twitter profile
6. Make a medium post about your UI/UX experience/journey/or some use case
7. Create a youtube channel and record the first video via mobile saying you're starting a new channel

UI Lesson 🔖

The search input might not be that easy as you think.

Here are some tips and tricks on how to properly make it.

🧵👇
1. Place the search input in a reasonable place.

The most common place is somewhere in the header. Users should be able to easily find it. Image
2. Do not hide it under an icon.

❌ It makes it harder for users to find where the search input is

❌ It requires an additional click for revealing the input Image
