THREAD: This is my Glock 23. (There are many like it, but this one is mine. HT @vincentdonofrio). It does not define me. I surrendered it to the sheriff after the Pulse shooting, but due to threats from an abusive ex, I re-acquired it for protection. 1/ 
I do not devote my life to it. I welcomed the background check. I would not sell it to anyone who didn’t have to pass one. I do not require a high capacity magazine to use it, nor do I require a device that allows me to shoot more bullets per minute b/c I’m a good marksman. 2/
I keep it in a biometric safe that only opens with my fingerprint. I would happily modify the gun to have a biometric trigger. I’m trained on it earned an expert pistol designation from the military. I am capable of aiming and firing & do not need a wide spray to hit my target 3/
I do not need to open-carry it in a McDonald’s to feel safe. In fact, I don’t take it out in public because even if I have the opportunity to be the “good guy with a gun”, I would only confuse law enforcement officers who will not know that I’m the good guy. 4/
I would happily purchase insurance to own it, and I would voluntarily submit my fingerprints and the serial number to the federal government so that it can be easily traced back to me in any state. 5/
I do not travel with it. In fact, this thread is the most thought I’ve put into it since I purchased it. I would agree to a tax on ammunition to cover the cost of gun violence in America. 6/

I only touch it once every six months for target practice to ensure I’m still familiar with how it works.
