#PennyAppeal is yet another ‘charity’ which looted Covid relief funds meant for India. Like others:

COVID Crisis seems like an endless opportunity for criminal groups from IMANA & Muslim Aid to now - Penny Appeal. It was founded by UK-based Pak origin Adeem Younis & claims 7 fronts. But the fronts are only façade - they are managed by same ppl.. (2/n)

Australia Chapter:
The FB page of Aus chapter was earlier Muslims Without Border-MWB. Interestingly, MWB was also United Muslim Relief (UMR)’s name earlier. UMR’s board member is IMANA Chair Ismail Mehr.

Israel Chapter:
Penny Appeal also claims an #Israel office! PA-Israel is shown as registered in 2017, in Jerusalem – but its not found in the list of Israel’s NGOs. There is no details of any work by this chapter. The address shown by PA-Israel belongs to Israeli Law firm

Fund Collection:

Penny Appeal was as opaque as #IMANA and #MuslimAid about the funds they collected. Apart from their favourite platform #LaunchGood, most of them collected funds through their website – which has zero transparency about the total fund collection. 5/n

Celebrities: Useful idiots or Colluders?
Despite shady past & no transparency IMANA’s fundraiser was endorsed by many Indian celebs which gave it legitimacy. Likewise, PA has been endorsed by celebs like Mehwish Hayat; Hasan Minhaj & UK boxer Amir Khan, he later disassociated

The ‘help’ theater :

Like #IMANA and #MuslimAid, the Penny Appeal also did not provide any details of its help that it claimed – other than random pics and videos. Sample this: their volunteer in a Covid patient bedroom. 7/n

And while different fronts collected money separately – all of them claimed the same pic as help given by them - not once or twice but multiple times! (8/n)

Like IMANA & Muslim Aid, the PA also used images purchased for projections.
In a FB post they used one such pic to portray the bad condition in India and the help provided by them. The same was also used for asking further donation in the same Facebook post. 9/n

Help Theater Gone Wrong
Penny Appeal another help claim – to provide Oxy Concentrators to Delhi hospitals. However, it seems that their local collaborators pulled a smart one – they sent pic of Haji Mangata Hasan Hospital at Bijnour (UP)-184km away from Delhi-as pic of help!

Missing Partners & Missing FCRA?
To provide help in India, every international organization needs an FCRA approved partner in India. But Penny Appeal has not given any partner’s name in India – and yet claim to provide help. 11/n

All the videos and images of Penny Appeal ‘help’ are carefully edited to hide details of partners & beneficiaries, in India. But they do mention partners details in other countries. (12/n)

Kashmir Connection
Various fronts of PA also claims to provide help in Kashmir – without any partner/FCRA organization. And to hide their fakery, they take recourse of “security threat” as the reason for not mentioning partners in Kashmir! (13/n)

Funds and Partners in a Nutshell:
PA's fronts raised funds separately & posted used stock pics & videos on their respective social media platforms to project the help delivered in ‘India’ –without giving any details of partners or quantity & place of help.

While PA carefully hide their local collaborators who provide them with pics for ‘show of help’ one pic led us to a local collaborator - India chapter of UK based org ILM foundation (Lucknow). Ilm is nor registered in India nor has FCRA. (16/n)

Fun Fact: ILM UK was also raising funds to help India in Covid crisis, while its Indian chapter was providing ‘help’ to PA to deliver Covid help. (17/n)

An organization with a History:

i)PA had faced charges of sexual & physical abuse of children in Gambia
(ii) Founder Adeem Younis was under scanner for financial fraud
(iii) used merely 27% of funds for charity. Rest was for asset creation!

Like IMANA & Muslim Aid, Penny Appeal also turned out to be the part of the same ISNA-ICNA-MSA-Jamaat nexus. PA has worked with MSA, Islamic relief (banned for links with Muslim brotherhood),Al-Khidmat (Charity wing of JeI) & a broader network of terror links.
