The coverage of the Tom Barrack indictment, one of Trump’s closest friends, for illegal lobbying for the UAE, suggests to me that a lot of the shocking revelations about Trump & UAE have gone down the memory hole. Let’s revisit. (1/whatever)

First, Don Jr. had a second infamous meeting at Trump Tower about foreign election interference. This one with Erik Prince and, guess who, the UAE who were just dying to help for some reason.

Second, Michael Flynn was literally texting from the inauguration stage to a business partner about an elaborate crooked scheme to lift Russian sanctions so they could flood the UAE and Middle East with nuclear energy.

Third—there was our old friend Elliott Broidy, another indicted top Trump finance chief, who was also exposed for—wait for it—corrupt lobbying for the UAE.

Fourth, as President made his very first foreign trip to visit Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Why? Nobody knows!

Fifth, guess who was left out of the Muslim ban? UAE and Saudi Arabia. Why? Nobody knows!

Sixth, not long after that trip, the UAE and Saudis launched an aggressive blockade against Qatar. Tillerson sided against the aggression, but Trump inexplicably gave a whole Rose Garden address in favor of it. Nobody even knew what he was talking about!

(Side note: soon after the blockade incident, Qatar seemed to get hip to the fact that flat bribery was the name of the game, and gave a massive bailout to the desperate Kushner family)

One could go on, but of course one of the great disgraces of the Trump presidency was his and Kushner’s explicit cover-up of the murder of Jamal Khashoggi by MBS, UAE’s closest partner in Saudi Arabia. Why? Nobody knows, as they say. (End)

Mulvaney desperately wanted to erase the request to investigate the Bidens from the history of the pressure campaign. The attack on Trump's political opponent was front and center going back to Giuliani in May: “Somebody could say it’s improper." (1/6)

There's been plenty of well-earned criticism of the journalistic ethics of the NYT hit on CAP this morning, but just to go on record, we firmly believe that the repeated reliance on Wikileaks hacked emails as a general reservoir for reporting is also outrageous & inexcusable. 1/6

The New York Times once pretended to take a hard introspective look at the use of these emails, the fruits of what Special Counsel Mueller has charged as a conspiracy against the United States by Russian agents. As Eric Lipton, David Sanger & Scott Shane wrote in December, 2016:

Indeed that NYT piece noting that journalists using Wikileaks were “becoming a de facto instrument of Russian intelligence” specifically singled out Neera Tanden as a victim of this phenomenon. And yet here we are again.
