I am astounded at the reaction to the data gathering that @PillarCatholic did.
A priest used church money to regularly break his vows while heading up the bishops response to priests guilty of criminal sexual misconduct.
Many of us who have endured Virtus have often commented

on how the program offers information most people already have and seemingly accomplishes nothing except the ability to mitigate liability.
Virtus was and is an example of how the Church is led by people who don’t understand the core problem that led to the crisis.

Priests are public people.
Priests are supposed to be servants.
The fact that we are allowed to freely act like dictators should not take away from the goal- servant.
A man effective at hiding vow breaking behavior should not be protected because of “but privacy!”.

To be clear, my heart breaks for him. I can’t imagine the shame & embarrassment.
He is my brother. I love him & will pray for him.
What I will not do is be a part of a system that urges us to hide the truth or to reward effective attempts to get away with it.
