What are some overlooked or underrated startup books? I’ve probably read 100+ and certainly already know the big five - but who can hit me with a less known one?
For those who asked, in my opinion the big five are:
- Lean Startup
- Zero to One
- Hard Thing About Hard Things
- Founders Dilemma
- Start With Why
My recommendations:
- Venture Deals for venture
- Never Split The Difference for negotiation
- E-Myth for fundamentals
- Hacking Growth for marketing
- Delivering Happiness for culture
- The Blue Sweater for inspiration
- Super Founders for data
- Lean In because it’s 2021
While I’m at it (clearly I love books). For founding stories don’t miss:
- Steve Jobs
- Elon Musk
- Alibaba: The House Jack Ma Built
- Shoe Dog
And less business but still essential:
- 48 Laws of Power
- The Secret
- Atomic Habits
Also, sometimes the best book is…. the one you read last year. Yup, there is so value from rereading, at a different point in your life, when you’re working on somewhat different things. ie. I’m reading the @naval’s Almanack again for the third time and I’m learning so much.
