1/ I've mentioned that it seems odd for @JeremyBenAmi to talk of recognizing Israel while his own organization plugs the idea of a Palestinian "right of return." But that's not all. On Instagram, his @jstreetu shared a plug for hate-filled, anti-Zionist extremists.
2/ Electronic Intifada—named after a campaign of violence targeting Jewish civilians—argues Zionism is like Nazism, calls Israel a "psychotic apartheid settler-colony," defends Hamas violence, and peddles lies. @JeremyBenAmi's @jstreetu wants people to think they're "credible."
3/ Here's Mohammed El Kurd claiming Jews gathered at the Western Wall are actually preparing to "invade" the Al Aqsa mosque. . His contribution to the discourse: "fuck israel & fuck aipac & fuck zionism." He says all Zionists are "pro-genocide." Etc, etc.
4/ El-Kurd, who was plugged by @JeremyBenAmi's @jstreetu, also denies Jewish links to Israel:

"'ancestral homeland?' Then explain why y’all can’t walk around Jerusalem without getting sunburnt?" He tweeted a video saying Jews aren't the real Jews. israellycool.com/2021/07/04/pal…
5/ And El-Kurd calls for violence, like when he Tweeted, "hopefully a third intifada.”

He's not the only one who's pro-terrorism. After the murder of three Israeli Jewish teens in 2014, Dena Takruri—on the list @jstreetu shared—tweeted about how "resistance is not terrorism."
6/ Ala Hamdan, also promoted by @JeremyBenAmi's @jstreetu, peddles the silly fallacy that Arabs can't be antisemitic because they are "Semitic," and links to a piece that says Jews aren't Semitic: aljazeera.net/2004/12/22/%D8…

BDS: We want to get rid of Israel.
NYT: Right, you want to end the occupation.
BDS: No, we said *all* of Israel.
NYT: Oh, sorry. BDS wants to end the occupation.
BDS: NO! We demand to replace the Jewish state with a Palestinian one.
NYT: Occupation?
BDS: End Isra–
NYT: …pation!
In the replies, someone does exactly what the NYT does. 1) They ignore BDS's 3rd demand, a so-called right of return that proponents openly acknowledge is meant to end Israel. And 2) they ignore admissions by BDS leaders themselves about their goal.

Why?
3/ "To put it quite clearly, the intention is the extermination of Israel," a foreign minister of Egypt once explained about a "return."

Thread: A list of @nytimes euphemisms relating to anti-Jewish violence:

1. Deadly attacks on Jewish civilian farmers are called "resistance." camera.org/article/the-ny…
2. Rocket attacks on Israeli civilians, and sniper attacks on Israeli soldiers, are characterized as expressions of Palestinian "impatience" with Israel. camera.org/article/in-ny-…
3. Hamas rockets that target and successfully kill Jewish civilians are called "stray rockets," as if they misfired and unintentionally struck their target. camera.org/article/in-ny-…

Here's something we as a society are going to have to internalize and accept in order to right the ship:

You might be boycotted and protested for NOT behaving in a bigoted manner. When that happens, it says something about the protesters, not about you.

eatuptheborders.com/our-statement.…
Case in point will be this: Eat Up the Borders will take fire for their (appropriate and needed) apology.

Don't be Rutgers:
3/ Speaking of Don't be Rutgers:

I struggle to understand why the EUTB statement apologizes, also, to the Palestinian community.

Had they disinvited a Palestinian food truck because activists were mad at the PA, the, yes, absolutely apologize the the Palestinian community.

A senior Cair official wants people to think Israel is spraying "sewage" on the "Al Aqsa mosque," though neither sewage nor mosque are involved.
A prominent US media figure does the same. (And @rezaaslan didn't under his retweet after people informed him of the facts.) Image
Aaand @imraansiddiqi seems to have deleted his tweet. Now that he seems to acknowledge the info he shared was incorrect, maybe his Twitter followers deserve to be informed?

1/ Hi @IKershner, could you clarify by what criteria the @nytimes classifies historical attacks on Tel Amal as "resistance"?

Opening fire on Holocaust survivors living and farming legally in their village is terrorism, or at the least an "attack."
2/ Just yesterday, those perusing the @nytimes read about Jewish "resistance" fighters who fought Nazis in death camps. That's not the same as, e.g., killing an innocent Jew as he was tending the fields. jta.org/1937/11/19/arc…
3/ The paper doesn't need to call the attackers "brigands," as it did in a contemporaneous (April 1937) report on an assault on Tel Amal. That sounds a bit dated.

But it could certainly use the word "attack" instead of the noble-sounding "resistance." @IKershner

1/ There's a letter circulating "from journalists, to journalists" that calls for abandoning journalistic objectivity in favor of anti-Israel activism.

Most signers are from fringe sites (Jewish Currents, the Intercept, Mondoweiss), but some (!) are mainstream news reporters.
2/ The names in that latter group—the handful from The @BuzzFeed, @washingtonpost, @latimes—should amount to a list of reporters that news organizations promising objective, impartial, and fair reporting should bar from touching anything related to Israel, Hamas, or the conflict.
3/ There's nothing at all noteworthy about journalists from Al Jazeera/AJ+ signing the letter:
