Zomato went IPO today.

The first Indian "startup" to do so,

Here is why I think Zomato can win long term :
1. DATA

The data they have on you as a consumer and also the sellers data of what selling the best and why is worth billions.
They could easily start super cloud kitchens catering to hyperlocal needs pocketing most of the profits.

btw remember, Amazon originals?

The unfair advantage here?

Zomato has more data than Swiggy due to the review and discovery business.
2. Ability to experiment

Zomato hands down has been more experimentive than any competitors.

Zomato plus, Zomato gold etc are very good examples. The mindset and ability to run these experiments already is setting them aside.
The unfair advantage here would be their incredible good marketing.

3. Global presence :

Zomato is the only one who has tapped into international market, with strong presence in uae and picking up in countries like new zealand, uk.
Eventually it's comes down to execution in the long term irrespective of anything.

While less than 10% of Indians order food online, vs usa which is almost at 50%

the growth story of food delivery business has just started.
Irrespective, I am excited that an Indian startup that I look upto has gone ipo and I really hope it does well.

what's your take?

Would you invest in Zomato?

Byjus acquired Toppr and Great Learning yesterday,

I am blown away by their series of acquisitions.

Here is a short thread on the saga 🧵
6 acquisitions in 2021 alone.

First, they acquired Epic for $500 MN a few days back,

I thought the acquisition storm has passed for now but I was wrong.
Within a week, they now acquired both Toppr and Great Learning 😅

The amount is undisclosed at the moment but the last time I read,

The total deal size was supposed to be around $500 million.

That would mean, $1B in less than a week.

MasterCard has been banned in India 🤯

But it's possibly a good thing for us,

Here is why 👇
Due to a possible data violation, RBI banned MC from issuing new cards.

What does it mean?

Massive adoption of Rupay ( owned by RBI ) and VISA
Btw, MasterCard currently holds 33% market share,

Banks like RBL, Yes bank only issue Mastercard,

Around 40% of Hdfc, Axis issued cards are Mastercards 🤯

The best part?

Any leads on Tocilizumab ?

This is not something sold in medical stores as it's an ICU-intervention drug.

Medical supplies are out, tried it in the black market, but no luck.
